Bubba still not all that hungry. He didn't eat any of the food left out overnight for him. He's still walking low on his hocks.

Wondering if I should give another half dose since he isn't eating. I will try to syringe feed. Shot is due in 5 minutes.

I gave Bubba his full new dose of 6.5U - due to him eating some breakfast, his sugars remaining stable 45 minutes after initial check, that I don't want the 7U depot to drain as such that he starts bouncing / numbers start increasing.
@Wendy&Neko - was giving full new dose okay?

He ate some food via spoon feeding/licking it off the spoon - not as much as I would have liked (since he hasn't eaten much the past few days) - but at least better than two mornings ago where I syringe fed him. I added some canned fish (low sodium) to his raw + MC and then he started to nibble. Usually canned fish is the magic trick & he dives right in ... but even that wasn't helping lately!

I didn't give him gaba since he was soooo out of it last night - he felt all limp & loosey goosey, pupils super dilated - seems Bubba is perhaps super sensitive to gaba?

Also, people will be home to monitor.

Gaba can knock out cats initially. It takes their bodies a few days to get used to it. Till then they will be a little out of it - sleepy, zonked....

Even after having cerenia the last 3 days - 8mg/day Bubba is still disinterested in food. He will lick up a little bit of fish and fish juice but that’s about it. Had to syringe fed Bubba for his meals today (about 3), but not a whole lot of food.

luckily his sugars are decent and didn’t have too much of a drop with the full dose this morning and not having his usual amount of food.

while my mom was outside on the patio she turned around and bubba was lying down on the ground! He lied down outside for a while snoozing while getting fresh air - rubbing his nose on the lawn chair leg lol. His back legs are still a bit wobbly when he walks and is still low on his hocks.

Looks like that new dose worked OK today.

Vet appointment can't come soon enough. :bighug: I'd be really pressing about getting an ondansetron script. And yes, it's very expensive here, but worth having around for times like this when his appetite is off. Maybe even some Miritaz too, which is an appetite stimulant. Though you need to deal with nausea first.

I did a two week trial with Neko on gaba, it wasn't doing a lot for her and she was still sleepy. Bupe was much better. But it seems to really depend on the cat. I liked the liquid bupe cause it was easier to modify the dose up or down as needed too.

Thanks Wendy. Yes, I will discuss options to increase appetite alleviate any nausea, especially since there's been no improvement on Cerenia yet.
I elected to not administer gaba tonight for Bubba... I understand it can take a few days for cats to get used to it, but Bubba was so out of it last night when my dad looked over at him, he looked dead (lol but not lol) o_O :rolleyes: and since he already has wobbly legs I didn't want to make him even more wobbly even if the gaba would help with neuro pain.

I dropped off the bupe script to the compounding pharmacy this afternoon, but the script was written in a way where the dose didn't make sense in one section :banghead: :blackeye:. I had to run off to an appointment and other errands I've been putting off so didn't get a chance to follow up, but the pharmacy was going to contact the vet to clarify. So annoying lol

I said the "magic word" aka FISH... Bubba looked over. So I mixed canned fish juice + MC canned salmon and Bubba licked some up... not as much as I would have liked, but it's better than nothing! Even that didn't work earlier today. Maybe his teeth are bothering him; he does have quite a bit of plaque build up. Dental cleaning was next on the docket anyways... once his diabetes and other things were more settled. Maybe I should just pull his bad teeth LOL He eats soft foods anyways!

You might want to consider getting a referral to the dental specialist. I liked West Coast Dental Vet Services. They are good at dealing with more complicated at older kitties, including diabetics.

Bubba had a few tsps of MC canned + some fish juice... He hasn't had any of his usual raw food today... my goal is to get him to eat and since he likes fish, I wanted to focus on the First Mate MC wild salmon canned to get his appetite going again.

Tonight he initially turned his head away from the spoon, but I persisted and he eventually licked most of it up... He would lick a few bites, then turn away from me... so I put the spoon under his nose and then he would start licking it up again... did about 3-4 rounds of that lol

Some progress at least and good to have some food in him before bed.
