The other thread was getting long.

206 on the AT pre-shot AM. I guess I'm going to do the .5 again and monitor. She has a rough night (she's had little appetite so I skipped Cerenia yesterday, but then she vomited in the night) so I'm getting her meds in her now and giving Cerenia again. I hope to have Mirataz for her later today.

She has so many issues other than diabetes.

If you're following SLGS, you need to keep the dose consistent for a week. (The exception being if you have a pre-shot number that's too low to shoot, you want to post and ask for help or if Babs' numbers warrant a dose reduction.) Sliding the dose is possible with Vetsulin. If you change the dose the same way with Lantus, you'll get wonky numbers.

Thanks Sienna. I'm trying to hold at .5U.

Thanks Sienna. I'm trying to hold at .5U.

+3 309 (Alpha Trak). I know I need to hold and keep going and give it time, and based on the Basics Lantus thread, it's not unusual to get higher numbers post-preshot.

Trying to figure out when to test next to try to find her nadir.

The numbers are going to go up before Lantus starts working. I think you’re testing too early. I’d wait for at least a +4. The nadir is most likely to happen around +5 or +6 based on her +3 values so far. That would be my guess

Well, the Cerenia seemed to kick it but now she's absolutely refusing food after a day of eating well. Luckily the PM reading was high enough (291 pet monitor) that I'm not too worried about her being off until the Mirataz begins to work (I just dosed her).

I'll also see if Ondansetron is an option.

Hi there -

Our PM shot was 194 on the AT (so I'm guessing 160s on a human meter). Thoughts? We're on day three of thus far holding steady at .5. From what I've read, I think the guidance is to proceed as planned with .5, but I wanted to verify that. I can also feed and test in a few hours and shoot based on that, although I'd like to stay on schedule if possible.

EDIT: Yesterday we had a morning 206 on the AT, so not that far off from 194. Following @Sienne and Gabby (GA)'s advice and proceeded with .5. Will check again before bedtime.

I'm wondering if she's just hitting much later cycle than expected nadirs.

Tomorrow is day 7 on SLGS. She's having another day of clearly not feeling well. I'm feeling a bit hopeless at the moment.

I am still using the pet meter, as the vet I'm working with (and who will be coming to the house bi-weekly) is an advocate of it and so I'm trying to respect that, particularly in the early days. I do have a human meter and I've been checking it periodically for comparison's sake. Two of her lower readings on the pet meter of 204 and 209 have equated to 154 and 170 on a human meter. Two of the higher readings of 320 and 322 on the pet meter have been 217 and 229 on a human meter.

I understand there's data variance on both, but in summary, I think her lowest readings this week have been 140-150s and her highest in the low 200s.

My gut feeling in looking at her spreadsheet is that doing a curve will result in a .25U increase. I wanted to ask if that's what others are possibly seeing.

Thank you again - as always, it's much appreciated.
