    Hello there -

    I hope you're having a nice weekend!

I'm a bit nervous about transitioning to Glargine from Vetsulin, as well as to what dosage to go for. I think I've landed on .25 to start as her numbers keep dropping, but I also only have about a week's worth of data to go on.

If you have a moment, would you mind looking at her spreadsheet and giving me your thoughts? Absolutely no worries if you don't.

Part of me is worried about changing something that seems to be working, but at the same time, I know Lantus is now considered the standard and has the better chance of remission.

    Thank you!

Typically we look at the dose of the current dose when switching and see how it's doing. Unfortunately there's been a lot of switching doses so it's hard to tell, but I might start with 0.5 units because it wasn't taking your cat too low. For a cat that would be new to Lantus on SLGS, that would be what they'd start with as well.

Thanks Diane - I noticed that you had switched Tyler at one point.

And thanks Wendy. I have been switching as the vet started me at what I think was too high of a dose. I had been leaning toward attempting to start at .25U, but I'm concerned about my ability to draw that small of a dose.

I need to stop fretting and get on with it. This am is our first dose.

Thank you all.

EDIT: First injection finished at a skinny .5 (~.4). Off to edit my spreadsheet.

I realized after the fact that these syringes aren't the smoothest. A friend passed them on from her last diabetic kitty. I believe these are likely 4-5 years old. I didn't realized that syringes expired. I believe Bron linked to the ReliOn syringes at Walmart; will go in today for those.

If Walmart is out of stock you can order these , I see a lot of members like them, but you may need your vet to send over a script for them. Just call ADW and they will contact your vet. They are very nice to deal with, just give you vet a heads up and ask for refills , then you can go on their site or call them and get them

+10 at 191 on an AT2. I imagined a worst case scenario this morning where her BG would skyrocket through out the day and that clearly hasn't happened.

For the 87th time this week, thank you all.
