My cat is big-boned and she's also nearly 18 pounds (a lot to love, lol!).
I've been told before that she needs to lose weight, but I honestly don't know how to do it. I will be doing more reading and looking around on here tonight because I'm sure there are resources, but thought I would also post my own thread on it and would love to hear your guys' stories and advice too.
Today a vet told me to decrease her insulin dose even though she's getting better numbers, and the reasoning was: she's gaining weight.
I don't agree with that being a good reason to decrease insulin lol.
My cat is not very active and it's hard to get her moving around and playing. If anything, I'm the one jumping around and losing calories in my attempts to get her to exercise!
But I also feel bad about the idea of restricting her food, plus worry about her not having enough food to eat if her BG were to get too low. She currently free-feeds and eats both wet and dry. Any tips on how to get a cat exercising more and safely losing weight?
Thanks!
