If you look in previous thread, you'll see this morning I awakened to pee and poo outside the box...again. she goes to the vet this morning. Yesterday I had trouble getting her out from under the couch so I could do tests, so I blocked the couch in the evening. That's where she wants to be 24/7. We got some blues last night. I just feel like she's so unpredictable right now that I dont know what to do anymore. I'm thinking to give the full dose since I didn't catch a scary nadir? She just makes me so nervous when she does things outside her norm. I'm going into work right after we get back from the vets.

Also why would she still be peeing like that. She's been getting the antibiotic faithfully for 10 days. I'll know more when I get to the vet but this is all just too much.

It may now just be because of the smell.

My friend just threw out a rag carpet one of his cats kept peeing on. I told him to do it a month ago, and sure enough, she pees in the box again now.

I use a spray I bought from Amazon, it's called Purrfect Potion.
It works 100%

I used it all over my house before I brought Sly in, because he was always a "sprayer" outdoors. He only peed outside the box once when he was first DX'd... No other mistakes.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that.
I wish I could tear up the carpet and throw it away, but I rent. That's what makes it all even worse. I've been using this pet cleaning spray called Rocco but I don't think it really works. It just makes stuff smell like bubblegum pee.

The Purrfect Potion really is a miracle. First time I bought 1 bottle to try it. Now I buy 2 at a time, it gets the stain and the smell out.

It even took out an old stain from 3 years ago!!

My poor cat has been suffering with a UTI and getting an antibiotic that gives her diarrhea and makes her lethargic, and here we don't even know what bacteria she has and if that's even the right antibiotic!! I'm spending hundreds each visit and taking time off work and my cat is suffering unnecessarily. The vet said oh we can do a culture, but itll take 4 to 6 days. And its like are you kidding me ?! That could have been done and grown a long time ago by now. I'm livid. Im trying my best to get in to the teaching hospital. They are over an hour away but they know what they're doing. Soonest that can get me in is Friday but they have me on a waiting list unless something comes up sooner.
Oh and then the vet was like," you're blessed" because my cat is almost 14 and diabetic. She acted like diabetic cats dont live long lives. I'm tired of people acting like my cat is decrepit and dying just because she's not 5 years old and she has diabetes.

I'd be angry too, maybe you should find a new Vet.

I've already tried a few different vets in the area. They all suck. I hate to take my cat to the teaching hospital for every little thing but I may have to because these vets out here fail me on a regular basis.
I have to run into work now to try to make up the time. I don't even know what they're going to say about my taking off Friday, but I have to do what I have to do. My cat is like my child. I can't keep wasting time and money on these vets out here. Why oh why didn't they do a culture to begin with?! I wouldn't have known to ask if it weren't for I believe Bron that mentioned it.

I'm about to leave to head to work and she's 203. She just got back from vet about a half hour ago and just ate a bunch of dry food. Since I'm not working the full day, once I leave, that's it until I come back home six hours from now. Do you guys think she'll drop a whole lot more? Hoping she'll be ok and wont hit any crazy lows while I'm gone. :nailbiting: food is always left out but she's not good at seeking it when she's lower.

If she ate DM, she'll be fine. Nice numbers though, they tell alot regarding infection. I think she's clearing the UTI.

She was like, normal cats live 18 to 19 yrs. Diabetics only 10 or 12.

My last diabetic cat was 9 when he was DX, and 13 when he passed. Diabetes had nothing to do with anything, he ended up having a mass on his colon.

Just because a Vet has a degree, doesn't mean they know everything.

I don't know if I'm overreacting, but the teaching hospital called and they have an opening tomorrow in internal medicine. It's a little over an hour away but I've always felt like they know what they're doing and they're very thorough. They have the latest in technology. I really dislike that the regular vet didn't bother to do a culture and still wouldn't have if I hadn't asked about it today. That makes me distrust her ability to take care of my cat. I am suspicious now about anything she's ever told me. I hate to put my cat through a long drive and visit tomorrow, but the vet here is nickle and diming me and not fixing her. I'm worried to keep letting her treat my cat.

Hugs. I can totally relate to how you feel. I’m sorry

I think I panic a lot because her first vet years ago that diagnosed her with diabetes kept telling me to bring her back in a month, bring her back in a month, and the cat kept losing weight, and got to the point she ended up hospitalized with DKA, pancreatitis, and hepatic lipidosis. I almost lost her. Then her second vet didn't take weight loss seriously and said she's fine when I would ask about raising her insulin dose, and turns out she had chronic pancreatitis and if I hadn't acted sooner, I bet she would have gotten hepatic lipidosis again. So that's why now I'm the way I am and don't trust anybody. When cats get sick, they get sick. You have to be vigilant with every little fart and hiccup lol. They're so good at hiding problems. And a lot of vets don't take it seriously.
Ok I think I've ranted enough today lolol.

I completely agree. I am sorry that you have to lose pay over this, but I hope these vets will be competent and will be able to help.

How is she doing tonight?
Ate so-so. Only peed once (unless there's something somewhere outside the box that I just haven't found yet:nailbiting:) and normally she pees two or three times per cycle, so maybe she's holding it again. She's out from under the couch right now, so that's good.
Edited to add: sorry actually she ate good. I didn't measure it right at first.
