Ketone test looked in between again. She free feeds and I'm guessing she ate about half a cup dry this cycle and a smidge Frisky shredded chicken wet.

OK. If we increased the dose, would you be around to monitor the cycle?
I’m thinking because you are unsure if there is a trace of ketones again, or not, we could increase the dose, because of the history of DKA.
I’d keep the food and fluids up and keep testing for ketones when able each day.

I have to leave for work right after the shot, but I'll come home for lunch to check on her.
 
I feel pretty comfortable that she'll handle it well. If anything, knowing her, she's probably going to eventually end up on 3.75 or 4 before we get this under control. :facepalm:
 
I can take lunch when I want. When would you think would be a good time to check? Thinking somewhere between a +5 to +7?
 
Nice PMPS but unusually low for her. Her unpredictability now makes me nervous. She also ate mediocre. We have a storm coming so that may be making her upset.
 
Also vet called ne today. She thinks the antibiotic is behind the high numbers. She also doesn't think we need to do a full abdominal ultrasound to look for masses or anything unless we cant get her regulated.

Yes, I'm home now. I just hope she doesn't give me a crazy ride tonight... I don't have the same tools to raise glucose like most people do, since she already eats dry food and isnt a huge fan of wet food. And now with the storm coming she's skittish and not wanting to eat for me like she usually does before her shot.
 
I'm looking at how she reacted to a similar preshot at that dose on July 27th last year, so hoping we should be ok...
 
Came back into the room to give her shot and the diarrhea is back :( not that it truly left, but it was starting to get some form to it. Checked her BG again in case something changed since she let that out. About the same: 221. I'll give her shot and report back with a +2.

Next time you go to the supermarket grab a half dozen cans of FF Gravy. They are HC wet. That's what I use to bring Sly up.

They can't resist the gravy. It's about 15% carb, close to honey.

Whoa I didn't realize they were that high in carb. That's wild.
