3/27/23 POST

Good morning!

This is the lowest AMPS Mikan has given me

Plan: test her at +1 & +2, adjust with LC and MC 11% before I go. I'll sneak back in for +5 for another check.

We also have a vet visit today at +10 - I hate doctor visits of any sort for any spices :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Good morning!

I hope Mikan behaves today, and good luck at the Vet!

I agree wholeheartedly! I am not a fan of Doctors!!! Unless they are absolutely required!

Thanks Deb! Mikan can howwwwl like there is no tomorrow any more during the trip to the vet :rolleyes::rolleyes: Breaks my heart every time

Sylvester acts like the world is ending!! He screams and yowls, and just carries on like a lunatic. It gives me such anxiety!

I hope your trip is smooth and uneventful!!:bighug:

Great Plan on testing and feeding!
Cleo is a MONSTER too! The Vet prescribed Gabapentin for her and Xanax for me :p

Let us know how it goes.

@ AM +5, she was 49. Strike 2. Bummer. I wanted to keep her above 50
Gave her LC with MC 11%. Left some LC out as I had to rush back to work. I wish I could just take her with me to work. Can I have her as my service cat :cat:

Awww, and they all look so sweet in their pictures -- Lol!! Such drama queens!!! :joyful::joyful::joyful:
My normally sweet and overconfident Chulo used to hiss and growl like a BEAST, until we discovered Gabapentin.
Chispa goes into a trance whenever they have to draw blood. The tech last time said, "She is someplace far, far away." I pictured a sandy beach, turquoise waters, palm trees waving ....

Maybe tomorrow, leave a tiny bit of HC with her food, it might give her that little extra boost. LC does nothing if Sly drops too low, even MC just gets him to float. That gravy though, always brings him up about 10 BG pts.

That's an idea. She usually responds well to MC but I was a bit stingy with it, I think. I should have given her more. I was hoping to keep her under 100 but over 50 - gosh it is just so hard to aim at the right range!

I know. I was watching out for it but I just couldn't keep up above 50 :(
When she goes under, she tends to spike back up  We will see how high she is going to go :oops::oops:

Yeah, Sly dropped fast this morning, and its only+6 and he is spiking now too. Next time, I should get a +1 and give maybe a little food, I never know wth he's going to do

Poor Mikan was so upset with the drive and vet visit :( She was an absolute ANIMAL driving there. So loud I could hardly hear the radio!

Vet and tech were very supportive of the TR approach :) She (Vet) has a lot of cats/dogs with diabetes as patients and she herself once had a diabetic cat in the past.
So it went as well as it can, except for the angry cat :mad::mad: She is still upset!

I wonder if that affected her PMPS? We will see

Totally freaked out. I tested her PM+2 as usual, thinking nothing of it as PMPS was 254. Then, I saw 31. I thought, it can't be. So I tried to re-test her. She fought like hell, which wass unusual. Somehow I got it, it's 27. I still could not believe this. But tried to make her eat some MC food that was right there. She ate some and ran away.
I wanted to retest her soon, but she was not going to be caught. I went around the house chasing her - she had this wild look. When I finally got her, she fought to get free, I had to ask my husband to hold her. Tested 43. I think she was hypo. She may have been confused.

I can't understand what happened. She did have lower numbers all day today, until PMPS. Was the PMPS number inflated because of the vet visit? Stress? It was about 1 hour after we came home. Then 2 hours later, 3 consecutive lime numbers. I fed her some HC gravy lovers and will test her again soon (hopefully, she'll cooperate).

Given this, I think I will reduce her dose tomorrow. @Bandit's Mom, will that be okay?

You must feel relieved with that 60 @4.5. She might just be on her way up. You will need to keep testing for about 2 hours since feeding the HC.

yes, for sure. This is so scary! Still nervous. I will test again at +5 again. What surprised me was her behaviors. She did not want to be touched and certainly did not want to be tested. It’s been a battle :(

Maybe she's still freaked out from the Vet visit, Kit..?
Don't forget they pick up on everything! Now that her number is up, try to relax a little, she'll calm down. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Deb. It has been a long time since she fought like this for the testing. Maybe it was the vet visit, maybe vaccine shots? Or hypo made her feel so bad that she acted strangely?

I think she is stabilizing now. I'm leaving MC and LC food out for the night. Hope tomorrow will bring a better day for Mikan :bighug:

Possibly a combination of all those variables.

I have experienced a hypo with my previous sugar cat, and they can become very disoriented and confused.

I hope Mikan does well tonight, and you get some rest :bighug::bighug::bighug:
