Posted late this morning since I'm off today! Woke up to take care of the boy then go back to bed lol!

Man, Lando is really doing amazing these days since I trimmed his fur down. Today I think we can actually run our FIRST CURVE SINCE GOING TO 1.5U WITHOUT A BOUNCE OR FURSHOT IN THE WAY!

Now I'm going to familiarize myself with calipers and I need to work at getting those teeny air bubbles out of the syringes hehe. I've never worried bout the itty bitty ones all that much so I'd go ahead and draw up a FAT dose when I had one I couldn't get rid of, but I'm gonna work at that now that things are going so smoothly :)

Good luck with the bubbles. I was never good at getting rid of them all. If following TR you have run to increase.

You think he's due for an increase if we have blues all day? He's regularly having under 100 tests at nadir so I was wondering if I should stick with this dose for awhile or increase it. He's sitting really flat today, but we've had multiple "near 50s" happen at night.

I'm not sure I would increase yet - only because you can't monitor very closely in the days - and he did drop to the 50s on 3/18 and we don't know how low he went in the AM of 3/21. Why not wait to see where he lands after this bounce clears and take a call then?

That's exactly what I was thinking. I was hoping for more of a curve today but he seems to be sitting very flat, but if it's in the blues I can't even be mad haha! His numbers are looking great.
Won't be off til next Wednesday so I think it's for the best we put a pin on an increase!
For reference, what numbers would call for an increase for Lando? If his nadirs are consistently over 100?

With TR you want nadirs at the lower end of the 50-80 range. You also don't want the stray green nadir but longer stretches of time spent in normal numbers. With newly diagnosed cats, it takes a while to see long stretches of good numbers because they're bouncy. Lando is flattening out beautifully though.

Thanks for that! I was looking through the TR guide but wasn't getting the exact answer I was looking for, this explains it perfectly :)

Thanks for the kind words! It's wonderful seeing Lando having all these blues.. His bounces are definitely getting shorter and lower <3

You'd like to see nadirs under 80 if following TR for the reason Bhooma stated. One thing to consider, the quicker a cat can get regulated, the higher the chance of remission. If it's a goal of yours. Holding a dose too long, that's not getting you good numbers, can lead to some glucose toxicity.

When you are thinking about when to plan an increase, remember that with Lantus, the depot has to build. Sometimes a cat will give you a hint of how low the dose can take them on the first cycle after an increase, but often it takes several cycles before you see action. If all you can monitor is the one day/night of an increase, that may or may not be the best day to increase. Perhaps it's before then. Once you have more Lantus data on Lando, you'll get a feel for when he likes to show you his cards on a dose.
