And he did. Sloped down all morning until he hit a reading of 195 about noon - then his liver panicked and he shot up fast. 306 about 3 and a half hours later. Groan….. If only he’d stayed in blues a little while… or even yellows… We’re six months in and I feel like we’ve barely made any real lasting progress at all. We have made progress, several times - but then he always starts spiking up again, and the doses rise back up, and so do his numbers even more, and it’s like this constant cycle. Overall we haven’t really gotten better at all. :banghead::banghead::banghead: We’re keeping him out of acidosis, and that’s it.

Well, the good-ish news is he’s not bouncing as high. So far. Maybe giving him just a little bit of carbs in his diet is helping? We’re only on day two of the new YA bag, so I don’t know if it’s that or just happenstance. But if that does work to level him out, I will be very happy, even if it means he gets a higher insulin dose. Just to find stability somewhere below pinks! Ideally blues and high greens, but considering the difficulty of stabilizing this cat… I’d take stable numbers anywhere in the kidney safe zone.

And yellows may be better for now anyway… try to get his body used to going down slowly. Since the beginning, he’s been yo-yoing from pink to green and back to pink or red fairly quickly; the distance he keeps going up and down probably hasn’t exactly helped calm his liver either….
