Good morning!

I'm very torn about the reduction, so I am doing 5.5 this morning. If he hits numbers like he did last night, I will reconsider taking it back to 5.25U

It's baffling how this dose is too much vs. The last dose not being enough, and I wonder if the DST has impacted the insulin effects, so I just want to hold out another day or two.

I just don't want the 5.25 to be too little...

Let's see what happens today.

I was wondering what DST was! :banghead:o_O Some cats are more sensitive to time changes than others.

Also, insulin needs go up and down. 5.25u was not enough last week but might be enough this week!
See what he does today and the next few days. He came up easily enough last night.

Ok Bhooma! I just don't want to go backwards if it's not necessary, yet...

I am trying to give him less calories, so I don't want feeding the curve to impact his weight, it's going to take balance!!

Reduce the portion sizes for each meal/snack?

You're reading my mind. I don't think I'm giving enough carbs in the middle of his first cycle. Then he does that spike and dip thing before PMPS. So I'm trying to figure out how to boost the PMPS so he doesn't go south at +1 and +2, because I think too many nite snacks make him have inflated numbers late in the second cycle....? Does that make sense?

I'll work on this plan today!

Initially he had high PMPS, and so I stuck to only LC wet and no dry between +5 and PMPS..maybe... If I give a little kibble at +9ish, his number at +2 won't be so steep.

Ohh I love a good experiment! Try to limit experiments to only one change so you can see how it works. I think food change experiments, for example removing dry, can take up to 2 weeks to reflect in numbers. Don't quote me on that but I think I have bookmarked a thread or two about it. I'll look for it if you want :)

I cut his dry back on Friday and added wet calories, because it gave me room to get him to. 300 cal/day... So... I'm wondering if that's why this dose is kicking it nicely for him.

If I reduce, I'm going to kick myself, unless I can get the balance right.

He likes to eat, but I think we went overboard last night, he had a little gas... Lol

it certainly could be!

all data is good data. I was also thinking that maybe next time to stick with just LC or maybe something in the MC range instead of the HC. Awesome job last night! Truly!

:joyful: How's his tummy today?

Fine! Thank you for asking. And thank you for the compliment. Yeah maybe just the one serving of HC early in the second cycle, instead of 2. It seemed to take longer than 30 minutes for him to rise, so another thing to consider.

It was funny, because I was petting him and he's like a little pillow so I put my head on his belly, and 2 seconds later, I had a whiff...

I was like, duuuuude... Lol

He actually gave me 2 poops yesterday, I told him too many goodies!!

So bouncy in these am cycles after the night time drops.

I'm going to try to feed him the YA portion that he'd normally get now at +4, at +7 or 8.

The fishy pouch they split is low carb, so today(+4) I split 2, maybe that will satiate him, and eliminate the mid am cycle spike, and the later kibble feeding will boost his PMPS a little.

Trial and error, I suppose!

Good lawd, he is just rubber today !

I fed YA kibbles at +6, let's see if that hits him at PMPS.

It's hard to know if his morning highs are from the PM +5/6 feeding, the last 2 nights where he has been low early in the cycle. I mean its probably the food and the bounce creating it... But we have to see, my crystal ball is in the shop...;)
