Bhooma should be back online soon.Stalled and tested again and rose a smidge but still low. 139.
I understand!!!I'm already nervous.
Sometimes stalling without food will make the numbers go down a bit too making the decision to shoot even more difficult. Is this just a late nadir? I've heard of some cats doing that at shot time and so it makes it more confusing what to do. That's why I've been stalling to see if she'll go up without food.
.
I'm glad you will shoot and not skip.
Please don't be sorryI'm really sorry if I've disappointed anyone.
Here is an excerpt from the sticky about regulation:in my thinking, is if I'm not comfortable as it stands, why do I need to see a below 90 to know I need to reduce
Well regulated - generally below 200-250 (11.1-13.9) and often near 100 (5.6), no hypoglycemia
I don't know that risk-averse me will ever be like that, but I say never say never and we are definitely making progress and seeing better numbers. Need her behavior to match now too; still hiding under the futon.
Thanks, this is helpful. This is probably the closest one that matches my goal, with the caveat being that I'm not comfortable yet with preshots much lower than 200. I did a 180 yesterday, which was my first time shooting a full dose below 200, and that turned out okay. Maybe as I see more of those I'll feel better to go lower on the pre-shot. Nadir-wise, I don't like anything lower than 100. I'd rather leave her a little wiggle room for days she doesn't eat or feel as well because believe me, they happen. I've come home from work to find she ate nothing or barely anything, and it was a surprise because she'd been eating super great up to that point and was acting completely normal so you'd never suspect that was coming. Thankfully that's not super common but it'd be nice to allow a cushion for it. I look at the numbers some of ya'll shoot and think man, you guys have some real cajones, lol.I don't know that risk-averse me will ever be like that, but I say never say never and we are definitely making progress and seeing better numbers. I actually had an appointment scheduled for today as a last-resort backup plan in case I couldn't get her to clear the constipation, but of course when she went I then cancelled. The thing is I don't know what they can really do for the pancreatitis other than tell me to keep getting her to eat and maybe taking pain meds, which I still have some (not sure how long they're good for; I'd have to look at the bottle). Last time she had a bad flare-up I just gave her anything and everything to entice her to eat and eventually she got over it. Basically the vets did poop for us when it came to the pancreatitis last time. I'm hoping the new food isn't going against her. I'd hate to give it up because I really think it's helping the diabetes a lot.
I'm gladThanks, this is helpful.
That's good, and soon you can lower that 180 to 150 maybe? One of the great things about Lantus insulin is that it tends to give "flatter" cycles especially when shooting a blue (and green) BG.I'm not comfortable yet with preshots much lower than 200. I did a 180 yesterday,
Oh the poor girl. I am not familiar with chronic pancreatitis. Have you seen this sticky? https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/a-primer-on-pancreatitis.79693/still hiding under the futon.
She's 181. I have no idea what to give her for her shot tonight nor what her PMPS will be, but I definitely don't want a repeat of today ever.
Oh what an exciting dayShe's 181. I have no idea what to give her for her shot tonight nor what her PMPS will be, but I definitely don't want a repeat of today ever.
I will remind you of this once you get used to lower numbers and they become addictive. She's 181. I have no idea what to give her for her shot tonight nor what her PMPS will be, but I definitely don't want a repeat of today ever.
About six and a half hours. We got behind due to stalling this morning, so she got her shot around 6:40 CST. That's going to mess me up with work tomorrow if I don't push her back a little thanks to DST, so tomorrow morning I need to do about a 7:25. Whatever dose I give, it's going to be super conservative because I have to work and I really can't endure it anymore. Heart pounding and flipping; been up past 24 hours; she's been poked more times than I care to count. I'm fine with her being a bit high tonight and tomorrow, at least until I can get her eating and/or checked by the vet.How long before PMPS? BabyG might just zoom to the moon after today's cycle and the reduced dose. Maybe a wait and see is the best approach and then you can decide.
( and worry I've tried soooo many brands, felt like I was buying out the store. Literally spent a couple hundred dollars. Fortiflora doesn't always entice her, unfortunately. I usually don't have problems with her eating at least her DM but ever since the new food she's been acting like this and isn't even excited about that, so I don't know if it's that or what. I think unless her eating dramatically improves tonight, she's going to have to get something less. I don't see what the vets can do, especially if it is pancreatitis and we've been down that route before, but I may take her in this week if she doesn't get better.
Ondansetron ready to pick up. I'm guessing it can't hurt to give it and see if it will help? So far she's turning up everything except Temptations and salmon bites and keeps hiding
Yes. Hiding, lethargic, not eating. I believe ondansetron is for nausea.
I just got back from the store with the prescription, plus a bunch of random foods to try to entice her.
Those of you with kitties with pancreatitis, do you always keep a stash of meds/fluids for it and give as needed as soon as you see any possible signs? I'm not 100% sure that's what's going on right now, but it makes sense and matches her symptoms that that is what it is again. The Ondansetron is for 4 mg and says take 1 tablet by mouth every 8 to 12 hours. I don't like giving unnecessary meds but am thinking it good to catch this before it gets too out of hand, and of course now vets are closed.![]()
