Welp it's just as I suspected! I left food out for Lando overnight to see if it'd keep him from dropping so low at AMPS (+6) and, because Lando doesn't want me to learn his secrets, I THINK HES BOUNCING NOW! I can definitely decipher THAT trend o_O

But that's okay, I'm celebrating 24 hours straight in blues and greens. His body just needs to get used to it and understand it's safe. He hardly went to his litterbox at all yesterday, he didn't scream for food at all either but was happy to accept a snack!

At least today there's no running home worried about Lando on my break. I hope he'll come down quicker then usual. I'm also happy to be sitting at the dosage we have, it seems to be working great. For so long we were always having to change dosages constantly.

Today we'll celebrate our victories we've had while we're facing a bit of a bummer day. You can't win em all!

Its a normal thing! Look at Sly's SS, he had blue streaks 3 days in a row and a hard bounce. You're doing an amazing job!

Thank you!!
Am I right to believe that the more often we hit these greens and blues, we'll more commonly sit in them for longer before dropping a bounce? Like as his body adjusts and gets used to it more and more it'll help him begin to regulate? Obviously the dosage may need to be changed at any time, and things like infection can bring him up higher etc... but just in terms of "bouncing" and it happening less often and lasting less long then previously.

Yes, as they get more acclimated to lower numbers, they won't jump around so much.

This is my second diabetic cat, and it's so true that every cat is different, because my first was easy to regulate the first 2 years after DX ( after that he had flare ups with other comorbidities, so it was a very customized dosing schedule with all his other meds).

Sly has proven to be difficult due to his food preferences, and the fact that he's a tubby boy.

You will get Lando where he needs to be, you're very diligent and willing to learn, so you are on the right path!

Thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words :cat:
I don't know how high my hopes are for remission with Lando. He never went in for regular check ups and yearly bloodwork, and I suspect he was likely diabetic for a long time before we really put the symptoms together and got a diagnosis. My goal is more then anything to help regulate him so he's a happy healthy boy again. I want to be realistic in our goals... if remission happens that's a plus, but I feel that regulation would be better then anything!

Lando will eat me out of house and home lol! It's a crying shame he'll scream for more food 30 minutes to an hour after he eats, but he's not picky that's for sure! That's what led to diagnosis... He wouldn't eat. A cat who'd take your pizza, donuts, cookies, sandwiches... That boy skips one meal and it's a 911 in my book!

Yep!! I've been owned by cats for 2 decades, and eating and bathroom habits are 2 keys to a cat's health. When something changes, something is up!!

Sly was constipated for a few weeks, and about a week before I brought him to the Vet, he had a diminished appetite. Funny enough, you'd think someone who had a diabetic cat once already would know the signs, but his were quite different. I honestly never expected diabetes!!!

That being said, knowing I did great with a sugar cat before, the DX was a relief in some strange way, because diabetic cats can live a long life if they get great care. I'm not hell bent on remission either, just getting him regulated to normal numbers will be the best gift I could ask for.

That's crazy you say that about the constipation because that was the FIRST weird thing that happened to Lando!!! We took him to the ER cause he was kind of blocked. We helped him pass it then did miralax and scheduled a visit with his reg vet. We'd noticed the extra peeing/urination but thought it was due to the miralax making him need more water in his body... Couple weeks later he stopped eating. That's when the vet and I put it together it was diabetes!
We were scared it was kidney failure... The vet assured my a diabetic diagnosis was much better news.

Yes, same here!

When my Vet called me with the bloodwork, she asked me if I was sitting down!!! Even she was baffled with his clinical symptoms!
