3/1 Bella AMPS 102, +11 162, PMPS 188, +2 131, +4 109 DENTAL TODAY

I left her. The Gabapentin mellowed her a lot, she was very calm. I actually like the vet who is doing her exam (it's not a specialist as I thought! But she does a lot of them.) today, that calmed me a little bit. I asked them to call me.
They are charging $40 to test her blood glucose once :arghh:

How much gabapentin would the group recommend to take a crazy 15 pound CALICO to the veterinarian for blood tests? We probably both need gabapentin - our felines and their “beans”.

Best wishes to beautiful Bella for her dental. If extractions are needed, hope the tooth fairy brings her lots of her favorite treats!

Carla @carlascalico I gave her 0.5 ml. She is 12.4 pounds (she lost one pound since last time she was at the vet. They were impressed!). she was a lot calmer than she is usually there.
I am vacuuming the whole house. I work in 2 hours, hopefully I will have a lot of very nice customers and stop thinking about what could go wrong!

What do you do for employment? I do hope your workday will go smoothly.

Unbelievable ! I know most vets charge for it, but come on ,one little poke ! I feel they shouldn't charge anything when it comes to checking it when it comes to a dental.

Sending positive vibes for Bella ,she will be ok.
I hope the day flies by quick for you since you are at work :bighug::bighug:

@Suzanne & Darcy I work in a fabric store. I also work as a school nurse and interpreter, but not today :) I was a physician in France but did not take the boards here, I'm training to become a medical interpreter, actually.
@Diane Tyler's Mom I admit I was a little surprised. $40 is the lower end, it says "$40-128". I would love to know what they do for that price. Maybe they will give me a brand new meter?
My house is clean :coffee:
Thank you for all the nice messages :bighug:

She is home. They extracted 8 teeth and will probably have to take all of the ones left out eventually. The vet was really nice. She said she was probably in pain because of all those bad teeth. I hope she will feel a lot better now!
She's completely groggy but looks like she wants to eat. Her blood glucose is at 162. I think I will give her half a dose tonight since I will not feed her normally, what do you think? @Bandit's Mom @Suzanne & Darcy @tiffmaxee
Thank you!

Looks like it's +11? I'd test again at PS and see if she's down or up. Some anaesthesia induction drugs (older kind) lower the BG's. Some don't. If the BG lowering kind, best to be cautious. You could give her a tsp of food and see if she eats it. Her numbers are high enough she'll still be OK to shoot tonight with late food.

Good to hear she can eat with no issues. Worst case is kitty too sore to eat and BG plunging due to anaesthesia. Seen it happen here.

Did she get some pain meds at the vet and for you to give later?

That is scary.
They said they gave her transdermal Buprenorphin (Zorbium), that will keep acting for 4 days, and an anti-inflammatory, Metacam. She should not need anything more for 4 days.
She is still very sleepy, her pupils are dilated but she is sitting by her bowl and looking at me :-)

Glad the dental went well. :bighug:
So what did they finally charge for 1 strip of the AT? :p
$40! It says "single test". But they gave her a complimentary nail trimming while she was asleep.
She is not eating now. Looking at her food with a puzzled face. I went and bought a jar of baby food, chicken, it has some cornstarch but that's it. I gave her some on a spoon and she liked it.

Poor Bella , eight teeth, I hope she has a comfortable night and is not in that much pain. Sorry she's going to have to have more taken out down the road.Praying she has a speedy recovery :bighug::bighug::bighug:

She's not that interested in food, she seems completely lost but she still came kind of running when I put her plate down. But then she stares at it like she's not sure what to do. She ate it after a while. I just gave her more and put some in her feeder. We put her "bed" in the kitchen so she does not have to go upstairs, but I will help her if she wants. I hope she feels more like herself tomorrow!
