Hi Sandy, just quoting someone's post while replying generates an alert for the person quoted. There is a bug on the Board relating to tags - after the first 10 tags, no alerts are generated. So tagging someone in every post will not generate alerts for that person about the tag after a certain number of tags.

Ok! I was not aware! Thank you!

It's still the higher depot at work. The Lantus depot takes 4-6 cycles to adjust to ba reduction. It's also possible that Snuggles has flipped a switch and decided she wants to be regulated. Congrats on the reduction.

I was just reading on the SLGS…should I have skipped todays dose since BS was 168? @Bandit's Mom
My personal opinion is that … no you should not have skipped the shot. She is better off with the insulin, especially since you are there to monitor her as you have been doing. That is for new people who don’t have much data on their cats yet. It’s also an option if you have a lower than expected preshot and don’t have data or cannot monitor. Anyway, a token dose can also be given. But you can always post here with a ? In your thread title for help if you want to.

I just hope we aren’t going backwards and with two dose reductions she doesn’t end up in the yellow. :cat:

You shot an AMPS of 137 on February 10. That is another thing to do when you are in doubt— look back over your spreadsheet and see what kind of preshot numbers you’ve previously shot and what happened.

ETA: and a 127 a few days ago!

I’m definitely fine with shooting lower pre shots as long as I’m home and can monitor. It’s those days I work I get nervous.

And with SLGS, you can shooting anything 90 and above as long as you have data, can monitor, etc. You shot a 127 a couple days ago. But don’t worry, you can work your way down to that and we will have to take things into consideration on the days you are working.

remember, with depot insulins like Lantus, they will stay flatter in their cycles when you shoot low.

Hi Sandy, I'm glad you gave her a break and slowed the hourly testing :-) I don't know if we have talked to you yet about "meter variance." When we are saying that she is "flat" in her numbers, even though you may be seeing small increases or decreases in the "actual" meter number, it's because of meter variance. With a BG meter, there can be a variance of up to +/- 20%. Sometimes if you test the same drop of blood, you could potentially get a 100 or a 120. So if we are seeing small changes in BG that are within the meter variance, we just say that the numbers are flat. We are looking of real trends. I hate to even mention the dreaded meter variance, because it confuses a lot of people. I call it dreaded, because when my cat's numbers are going down, it feels like they're going down... and I want to know for sure if I should be alarmed or not. After a while, you just kind of get a feel for whether your cat's numbers are flat or not. That's why I was saying that last night you could go to sleep.

I went through every single thing that you are going through... the doubt, the uncertainty, etc. Everybody that joins this Board does, I think. You are going to be a pro very soon. You've made great progress in such a small amount of time... it helps that Snuggles has, in and of herself, made great progress with a little help from you! :-)

So, tonight if the numbers are like they have been I can go to bed and maybe just test around +3 and +6 and shouldn’t be any issues? I don’t see any issues with Snugs becoming hypo because she’s actually getting another dose reduction tonight.

If you get a +2 and +3 and it seems relatively flat, I would go to bed and set an alarm for +6 yes, depending on how she is when you go to bed... I mean... about what hour on the SS would bed time be?

I would like to go to bed around +3 but I can definitely set an alarm for +6. I will see what +3 is and if necessary I can always set alarm for +5 and if she’s getting too low give a snack of MC.

So if you check a +2 and then a plus 3 you will get an idea of where she's trending... should be down, of course, BUT we want to consider the RATE of drop. Then you can probably (if she's true to form) give a snack, go to sleep and, for your peace of mind get up and check her in a few hours to make sure all is well and decide what kind of snack you think she should have. Okay?
