If all goes well today, we're going to start 1.25u tomorrow morning.

Tessa is hiding less when test time rolls around so I think the switch to free handing lancets worked! I don't necessarily think it was about the click, I think it just hurts less for me to free hand it. I still have to poke more than once sometimes but I'm being gentle and quick so I think that helps. I got out of the bathroom this morning and Tessa was waiting on the bed which is where I've been testing her lately.

I did notice that Tessa has a little bump just below her mouth, I am pretty sure it's feline acne especially since it popped up shortly after we got her the timed feeder which has a plastic feeding dish. I ordered a new timed feeder and stainless steel inserts for it. I'm also going to gently clean the bump with pet-safe wound cleaner a couple times a day and see if it clears up. If it doesn't improve by Monday then I'll call the vet and schedule an appointment.

Hi Jess , Tessa is looking so good, good luck with the reduction if you take it tomorrow. Most likely it's feline acne because of the plastic .
Im glad the free hand poking seems to be helping. If you look at the lancet under a light you will see one side of the lancet is curved upward, that's the side you want to poke with. I have always free handed. On the lancets I don't have to keep looking for the side that's curved because on the plastic on the lancet there are little holes if you want to call it that, the side on my lancets with the part that's curved upward had smaller holes on it, so when I poke I just look at the lancet for them and poke

Ooh, that's a good tip on checking for the lancet holes! I think you gave me the advice before about poking with the curved side upward and I had been checking for it each time but the holes are different on that side than the other so now I can just go by that. Thank you!

Her numbers are a smidge higher today than they have been lately but I think we're gonna attempt the reduction starting tomorrow anyway.

Go for the reduction :-)

Bandit has chin acne as well. I haven't been able to get rid of it even after changing her bowls to stainless steel. Cleaning the area with a warm wet cloth helps but they come back in a few days. But hers are the blackhead kind - not the red inflamed kind - and they don't seem to bother her at all, so I just let them be.
