I went ahead and switched to the new pen. The old one has some bubbles in it that make it hard to get that last bit of insulin. I'll keep it in case I need it though. I know I'm switching too many variables at once but I figured it couldn't hurt to switch the pen and keep feeding that extra meal overnight. I already bought the feeder so even if she doesn't "need" that meal, she'll enjoy having some "extra" food (not really extra since it's just her regular PM meals divided into 3 instead of 2). Tessa loves to eat.

I was excited by her +2 but I'm not excited by the +4. I am seriously considering picking up a different meter because these random ups and downs feel wrong to me.

I've read that the Contour Next is supposed to be very accurate, I might try that. The ongoing supplies would be much higher but if I could be sure that her numbers were accurate then I wouldn't mind paying more.

I was re-reading the TR section of the dosing method page and it says that you "attempt a reduction when the cat regularly has its lowest BGs in the normal range of a non-diabetic healthy cat (50 - 80 mg/dL) while staying under 100 mg/dl overall for at least one week" so I am assuming you have to meet BOTH criteria of the nadir being below 80 AND staying below 100 overall so we would stick to 1.5 for a bit longer, right? Unless I'm missing her nadirs, they've almost all been above 80 lately.

After seeing her numbers today, I think it's safe to say that the old insulin wasn't the problem unless somehow all my insulin pens are going bad? My fridge is kept pretty cold but I haven't see anything freeze so I don't think that's it but I guess it could have happened without me knowing.

Thank you Diane! I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little sad that she isn't ready for another reduction yet but at the same time, I would be totally fine if 1.5u was the magic dose that kept her in the healthy range all the time.

I’m in Canada and use the Contour Next One, all of our testing supplies are very pricey. I’ve found that I can by the strips in bulk from eBay at a much better price. It is more expensive up front but worth it in the long run.
Hope that can help

I had to keep raising Tyler's dose and then all of a sudden I had to keep reducing his dose. Just be patient, whats it only been 3 months since she's been diagnosed . She's looking good. It took me 2 years and 4 months to get Tyler in remission. On 1-24-2023 it will be 2 years he'll be in remission ( knock on wood)
