Looking for a new vet - looking for suggestions in eastern Kansas

Hello! I am currently looking for a good vet in the eastern Kansas area (preferably close to Lawrence) who is experienced with FD. My cat is newly diagnosed, but the vets I have contacted refuse to take my home testing numbers and would rather do the glucose curve themselves at the office (one even wanted him there for 5 days!), but I know from you all that home monitoring of a glucose curve is much better. I would like to find a vet who can work with me so I can get Pinky on insulin sooner rather than later. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

It is excellent you are hometesting.
In the meantime while you are not using insulin, I would test the urine for ketones to make sure that none develop.
For that you will need a bottle of Ketostix from Walmart or a pharmacy. You will need to collect a urine sample and dip the test strip into the urine and read it exactly 15 seconds later against the colours on the side of the bottle.
There should be no ketones at all in the urine. If there are, that indicates that the insulin needs starting asap.
 
I just had a thought. Are you on the Nextdoor app? Mine is very animal friendly and I’ve always had good luck asking for referrals there. It’s in your area so if you create a post there asking for vet suggestions, you may get good results and you’ll know those vets are near you.
 
Thank you, I appreciate all your help and suggestions! The vets I have tried to talk to so far act like I'm crazy and just trying to get a free prescription of insulin; my primary vet said that there's no way to prove that the numbers I am providing are even real and that I could be making them up (!!!!!). Like ma'am I just want to help my cat

Would your primary vet consider doing a fructosamine test and then prescribing the insulin? If that’s something you’d consider as well. That proves his diabetic. And/or can you send him/her the test results from the other vet?

He's actually had one done! I will be adding it and the original blood test to his spreadsheet shortly. They wouldn't take it because they were not the ones who administered it. For now, I left a message with the vet hospital at K-State University; one of their vets specializes specifically in FD and has recent published works on it. I'm hoping I can talk to him and that he will listen to me and take his previously done tests.
 
A vet should accept previous tests. That’s your cat’s medical history. I can understand them wanting to see and examine your cat, but there should be no need to redo and have you pay for all the tests again. so yeah, this is all very frustrating and I’m sorry. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Thank you!! I thought they should have taken it too. I think that's why I am so especially frustrated. They've been so great otherwise with my other two furbabies, but they got really touchy when the concept of FD was brought up.
