12/29 Tessa AMPS 158 +1 162 +9 144 PMPS 153

Ans still some nice blues today too! How is her skin?

It's doing great, I used cooking oil to remove the old sensor and there's just one small red spot where she jerked and the adhesive came off before the oil could release the adhesive. This is from this morning, about 12 hours after removal:

It's soooo much better than the site where her first 2 sensors were. They were red and raw and the hair hasn't even grown back in the exact spot where the original sensor (from a month ago!) was. That made it easy to figure out where to put the new sensor but it breaks my heart that her skin was that damaged. I'm glad that this new way of doing it is more gentle.

Did the vet place the first sensor?

Yep, the vet placed the first 3 sensors (the 3rd one fell off 5 minutes after Tessa got home) and we've placed the rest ourselves. The vet uses vet bond which damages the skin, it's meant to be used in place of stitches, not to be used to hold a medical device on.
Yes. I’ve heard about the vet bond :( What do you use to adhere the sensor?

The one I did last time I used Skin-Prep but this time I used Skin Tac. They are both adhesive barrier wipes, they are meant to be used with bandages and adhesive medical devices and are skin safe. I also covered with Tegaderm and I put a new pet t-shirt on her so she can't even attempt to chew or lick at the bandage.

Skin Tac is VERY sticky so I'll definitely need an adhesive remover to get all the sticky residue off when the sensor is done but it shouldn't cause any damage to her skin.
