Some cats will go higher before taking a dive down. Hence the need for patience when you see high numbers.

Back to back days with green is good. :D

His poops still suck. I got him back on fancy feast (chunky chicken, chicken pate, turkey, turkey/giblets and beef flavor). He likes the chunky chicken (11% protein, 4% fat 78% moisture). It’s been 5-6 days of non seafood now and he’s still having diarrhea. Not sure what it is, but he won’t just eat the friskies (he hates it now, his poops were fine on it).

So unsure what to do now with him.

Ugh! With diarrhea, there are a couple solutions. One is adding a bit of pumpkin (plain, no spices) or babyfood squash. I liked that cause it was just a small jar. Priobiotics is another option. You can try s. boullardi. Florastar is one such brand. More info here: https://www.ibdkitties.net/supplements/probiotics/

Thanks,

So he had more diarrhea. He’s also at a 66 at+8. This started when I changed his diet to seafood pate’s. I’m tempted to put him back on Friskies and reduce his dose back to 1, as he won’t be eating as much back on Friskie’s. He’s currently eating the chunky chicken FF pate. Do you think it’s just from the seafood messing his stomach up/still taking a while to settle back down? He has NEVER had these problems before

I thought you said he hates the Friskies and it's no longer a solution. Have you tried turkey & giblets? Fish and chicken are common allergens. What proteins was he eating on the Friskies?

Chicken. He likes FF chicken, he’ll eat a little bit of friskies chicken. I’ll try what you suggested. Sorry if it seems like i’m ignoring your advice. I’m just stressed about this now and tend not to think as clearly.

He likes turkey and giblets too. I think maybe the change has just upset his stomach. I’ll follow your advice (you’ve pretty much always been right lol). Buying some baby food squash. Walking up to walmart.

Thanks again Wendy. I do appreciate your help/advice a lot :). Just wanted to say that. I’ll try the baby food squash, if that fails then probiotics.

Does feeding him different types of fancy feast hurt his stomach? Cause in hindsight he hasn’t had ONE consistent type of food for a while.

If he was OK with chicken before, then changing brands shouldn't do it. However, you do have to read the ingredients list carefully. Some of the FF, including chicken pate, have fish listed in the ingredients. That's why I suggested the turkey & giblets, as it seems to be fish free. Of course, this is assuming the diarrhea is caused by an allergy.

As for feeding variety vs one type only of food, I am a fan of variety. That way if the manufacturer changes formula, you have a fallback. Says the person who has had to scour shelves for particular manufacturing dates of cat food. Sigh!

Thanks again for your help Wendy. I will feed turkey and and giblets for the next 2 weeks. He likes it more anyway lol. The ones he will eat are…

Chicken Pate Chunky (needs to be smushed to break up the chunks).

Chicken Pate

Turkey and giblets

Beef flavour

In your opinion how long can i leave if out safely? No ice pack and no cooling of any sort
