Still limping this morning, that makes me sad, i was so glad the Adequan was working.
the vet called just now because there was a cancellation and they can take her for her dental. but she ate and I gave her her full dose of insulin. what should I do?

Don't they require her to be fasted for anaesthesia? What are they saying about her having had insulin and food?
10 am would be how many hours after the shot?

I don't like the vet who does the dental exam. She is the one who decided Bella had asthma 2 years ago, and she does not listen.
she said she will take her this afternoon and that it was fine, she does no mind her having had food and insulin, that they would test her.
10 am will be 1:30 after her shot, a little more actually, I did it at 8:15

When Bandit had her dental her vet wanted her to be fasted for 8 hours. So she didn't get the AM shot. I have read that some people give half the dose and half a meal even on the morning of the dental. Why do they need her at 10 am for a 1pm dental? To run tests etc?

I called to say I would not bring her today. It made me feel very stressed, it felt like a last minute decision.
They first told me to bring her even earlier, I asked if I could keep her here longer because she hates being there so much, then they said 10-10:30 would be fine, but no idea why! They ran her blood tests in October.
I emailed my regular vet and she said she would wait since she ate this morning, so since I trust her and you here more than the dentist, I canceled. Thank you :bighug:

When my boy had his dental extractions, they had me feed him half of his normal meal & give half of his insulin dose. When I got him home he was so drugged up he couldn't stand or walk, I was scared to death for him but the wonderful people on here helped me get him through it. Some of you might remember it, it was one of my first ever posts on here. I did end up firing that vet after that for many reasons.

I am glad that my usual vet answered my email, but I did not feel it, and I would have canceled anyway. Thank you Bhooma @Bandit's Mom and Elise @tiffmaxee .
Bella had a dental exam in october 2019, it went well but at the time they said no food from midnight until morning. So it felt weird this morning when she said it was fine. I don't like the one who does the dentals, she does not listen and has not been great for us. we saw her in late Februray 2020, Bella had to go to the ER one night because I found her anting, with her tongue out and blue, and she was breathing very fast and superficially. The Er did not find anything. I think she had a blade of grass stuck in her throat, or possibly COVID (my son and then my husband had it just before), she was fine and eating grass when we left, and like that one hour later. When I took her to the vet 2 days later, it was this one, and she declared that Bella had asthma. A few months later she had a cold, and again she told me it was "her asthma flaring up". She had a cold, typical cold, she was warm and her nose was dripping for a few days and then she was fine, but that vet did not listen, gave her steroids and kept saying it was her asthma. I try not to see her if I can but she's the only one who does the dentals.
I think I will try to find somebody else, maybe a dental clinic or the university hospital. My vet is retiring, she has been really nice even though you here know more about diabetes than she does :) but once she is gone, I will probably not stay in this clinic.

i was going to suggest you find a different vet to get a dental. If she can diagnose asthma for a cold, I don't know that I will trust her to put my baby under anesthesia!
