My cat has just been diagnosed with diabetes and the first two insulin shots were not difficult to administer near shoulder placement, but tonight she anticipated it and I am not sure if was all injected. Would you suggest trying another spot and if so which place is easiest to administer? She has black fur and my visuals are just not that great in that location. She is drinking much less water and urinating less already and likes the diabetic prescription canned food, after only one day. I look forward to hearing any advice. Thank you!

Whatever you do don't shoot again tonight.

I see your injecting near shoulder placement? I inject in between my boys shoulder blades. Is that approximately where your injecting?

Yes that's where the vet showed me too and it seems the most common injection location, but if anyone has other suggestions I would like to hear.

Here is a diagram of places to give the injection. Make sure you are giving it sun cutaneously and not into the muscle as that will hurt.
Try giving something to eat as you give the shot, they will not notice the shot then.

I would also suggest extra lighting since you said you’re having a hard time because of the black fur. I have a black cat too and when I have to give Bobo his b12 shots, I aim a flashlight at the area so I can see the skin and the needle going in. I used to do that for Minnie as well.
