Biggie got down to 63 last night at +8.5.

I’ve been keeping him on the same dose of insulin because he is having a dental tomorrow (please send good and healing vibes). :bighug:I’m hoping after his dental things will normalize more with his evening highs. He usually goes up quite a bit (30-40 points sometimes) for the first 4 hours and then starts to go back down.

I’m thinking about giving a half dose tonight since I won’t be able to feed him as late as I usually do. Not even sure if I should give half dose or maybe less because he dips so low late in the evening and he won’t be able to eat and I’m not sure how much of the depot will be at play. He usually does ok with skips but it means I’d then be skipping two doses because I’m not dosing him tomorrow morning either.
 
My vet had me give a full dose the night before and skip the morning of the dental. Some people give a half dose the morning of the dental. My vet said I could feed until midnight but no need to remove the water. If Biggie should drop under 50 you could give honey. You could also feed slightly higher carbs if he is dropping close to when you want to stop feeding. Good luck with the dental. I must confess they always worry me but knock would have gone fine for my cats.

Thank you for the advice. Giving syrup if he goes low is a good suggestion. I’m thinking half dose tonight is safe and better than giving nothing. He’s on such a low dose and it affects him pretty well that I think giving half dose tomorrow would be too much on an empty stomach and thankfully he usually does ok with a skip. I’m nervous but I know he needs this and hope all will go well. :bighug:
 
I got Biggie’s food and shot ready and forgot to test him! He was at 91 about 25 mins later by the time I remembered. I don’t think it was likely a whole lot higher than it would have been at preshot time based on his history.
