12/3 Marley Lantus AMPS 156, +2 133, +3 98, +4 80, 5.5 109, + 8 177, PMPS 231 +2 266

Looks like it will be an active cycle since he's lower at +2. This is still the higher depot at play since it's only the 3rd cycle on this dose.

If you had been working, I would have suggested you come back for a test at +5. And of course, set the feeder for +3 and +4 and feed at +2 before you left for work.

+3 98

Ok thank you so much!!

Do you have a number in mind of what the drop needs to be to call it an active cycle, or is it anything lower, even a point?

Active cycle meaning he could have a hypo?

Since you are home, can you test and feed every hour? It's useful info.
Til what time should I test hourly? Or what BG reading conclusion?

Thank you so much!

There is no hard and fast rule or number. Him starting lower this morning and being lower at +2 would mean you want to monitor him more. An active cycle does not necessarily mean he will drop very low. Just that he will see more action and lower numbers.

Till he stops dropping? I think he should flatten out by +4 or +5.

Marley is so hungry and pacing alot and seriously pestering me for food....for hours he's been doing it (It's +11 now but hes been pestering me since about +8. Normally he's asleep at this time. Till his injection.

He normally paces when is BG is low, but it isnt now.

I just ended up feeding him as he was distressed about it.

Now he has just gobbled it up and wants more.

I'm going to ignore him til +12

He used to pester me all the time before his diagnosis but since he mostly hasn't.

Just the last few days its begun.

He was wormed about 2 ish weeks ago.

Is there anything else that could be causing excessive hunger?

Normally excessive hunger can be their blood sugar dropping too low or too fast. If that happens you want to get a test and see if that's the case.

Is he so hungry only today?

Sorry I didnt log it (will in a sec.) but I did test, for that exact reason at + 8 1/4 it was 177

I'd say this excessive hunger has been building the last few days.

Sometimes he's a bit more hungry and sometimes he s a bt less hungry. Seeing as I go through similar phases, I sympathise and usually when his doses of food don't quite satisfy him I will give him a couple of spoons of homemade chicken stock or something. This usually is something that happens over a couple of days, then he goes back to normal.

Its been going on a few days already and then he got up several hours earlier than normal and really pestering me. So it feels like something is up. The weather has suddenly got cold. Maybe that is what it is. I dont know. Something feels different.

It's almost the pestering of high blood glucose - where they cant be satisfied as they aren't absorbing anything. (He used to be like this all the time before he was diagnosed) But his blood glucose results aren't that high either...so I dont know what to think.......

Maybe it's the colder weather? Just watch out for any other tell-tale symptoms of worms. How long has it been since the flea spot-on and dewormer?

Maybe.

Should feed him a bit ore while he's hungry or am I creating bad habits?

I gave him the spot on 16th Nov and the wormer about the 21st Nov so still should be covered.
