Hello @Mom of 3 Fur Babies! Thanks for checking in on us.Good morning! Just saying, Hello. Noticed your like and wondered... who is this Kyle & Simon?
Looked at Owen's spreadsheet and read your comments. These sound like me! I started out SLGS and became frustrated and switched to TR....which has its frustrating moments as well. Guess I was hoping Leo would go into remission, but a lot happening over in our home that may have contributed to Leo's BG instability..... or it's just the way it is and will continue to be.
Hang in there! Owen's AMPS looks great!
ETA: OH my goodness... you're an experienced parent of a sugar baby. {{Simon}}} ♡
+3 61. I’m wondering if we should feed higher lc right out of the gate to slow down these dive bombs?
Hello @Mom of 3 Fur Babies! Thanks for checking in on us.My beloved cat Simon (who died in September at the age of 20) was only on insulin for 7 days! So when my friend Kris’s cat Owen was diagnosed with diabetes I offered to help her since I thought it would be easy
! Unfortunately it has been a lot more difficult with Owen and being the intermediary between Kris and the FMDB isn’t always easy. I am doing this in honor of Simon and all the love and joy he gave me. I do hope we can get Owen OTJ eventually but I am learning that patience is the most important part of managing fd. I will be wishing you and Leo good luck

Kris couldn’t test again until now (+8) so she left him with mc (12%). I think we would have to mix ff pate (3-4%) with this to create a higher lc option? Hopefully he has been surfing safely over the past 5 hours! Hope everything is going okayWith 61 at +3 I would try lc and test in an hour or if not possible give higher lc. What % lc does she have? I realize I am too late. Crazy here.
I hope you get good news from the vet!Do you know when he's at his lowest (nadir)? I did something unusual because 1) Leo was in low 50s and 2) about to see the vet and not exactly in a position to test and manage with HC food if under 50. The vet's office should be ideal, but didn't need the vet for taking credit and then charging me-LOL. Seriously though, it was safer for him. The HC probably helped him get over the low, but wonder what the lab result reveals. Eeek. Should find out soon.
Meanwhile, if you can hold off feeding the HC and only use if indeed he goes under 50. Did he eat good thos morning? Do you offer food at +1 & even +2? This helps Leo--usually. I am not a moderator, OK.
+2 64. We may chicken out and switch to mc.![]()
Thank you @VirginieOwen!
I probably would also chicken out, especially at night when it’s harder to monitor … or maybe mix a teaspoon of MC to a teaspoon of his usual LC?
Hope he stays hungry for his snacks!
Yes I think we are on to straight MC now. I have asked Kris to get a +3 but she has a hard time testing later than that. We’ll see where he is at in an hourI ended up mixing LC with 10% & 15%. I know he nadirs later. Not safe to go to sleep yet.
I hope Leo surfs safely tonightI ended up mixing LC with 10% & 15% since his +2.5 & +3.5 are into the 50s. I know Leo nadirs later. Not safe to go to sleep yet.
