Hello!
This is my second day on FDMB. I've created a spreadsheet and a signature, and am still working on reading through all of the links that were provided on my first post. I have put together a hypo kit and am ready to take action if glucose goes below 68 on my Alpha Trak meter.
I am trying to adjust Mimi's insulin dose to the correct dosage. Since Mimi is eating Young Again Zero dry food, I learned that she should be following the SLGS protocol. I'm struggling with this since I had Mimi on 2 units of Lantus, per vet's recommendation, for about the past 5/6 weeks. I went to the vet's office to learn how to at-home test yesterday, 11/25. Her BG at +7 was 46 on Alpha Trak (but 75 from the vein). They recommended a drop to 1 unit. I did not feel comfortable with this last night based on her BG levels, so I gave her .05 units. I skipped the AM dose today due to BG levels seeming low, and shot 1 unit this PM. Should I have given her .5 units instead of 1 unit? +2 hours, she is already at 86.
Thank you for your help in figuring out how to adjust her insulin dosage.
