Hi all,
Dumpling has been steadily low over the last night,
3 Alpha READYINGS AT
134 +3
101 +5
103 +6

This morning read at 77 pre-shot
Current dose is at 7units.

From this low pre-shot number I am hesitant on giving full dose (very likely not giving it full dose) or even half dose at 3.5u?
Can someone please advise!

Gave dumpling full dose at 9:15am (7u)

+1 102
+3 102
+4 112

This is his lowest bg at preshot. Your ss says 7. Did you shoot? Can you monitor? Have hc, mc, and honey or Karo?

I have held back waiting for a response since morning.
Yes I can monitor throughout the day and can do frequent blood test as needed.

I have the Hypo kit ready, HC food, syrups, etc.

What should I do next?

With TR you can shoot any number over 50 (on a human meter) if you can monitor. Sometimes stalling can cause numbers to drop further.

Was the 77 on the Libre or the AT?

I won’t be able to stay with you for as long as necessary should he drop low and Bhoona won’t either. Feed him. I will be back.

Could you keep the spreadsheet and the subject line updated with his current numbers please. Looks like he's not bouncing and it's an active cycle.

Now that Dumpling is over 6 units, have you considered talking to your vet to have him tested for acromegaly (IGF-1 test) or Insulin Auto Antibodies (IAA)? Both conditions require blood be sent to Michigan Atate University labs for testing. There are treatments for acromegaly, so it's good to know if that's present and causing him to need a higher dose of insulin.

@Wendy&Neko sure, just updated the numbers in the top threads as well as ss. We consider to take him to do the test once we hit 8u. During the past weeks, we started to see some lower numbers around 100 and 200 and right now we even got numbers under 100. Dumping is a pretty sensitive cat for vet visit and last vet visit made him very stressed out. But we will take him to vet once we hit 8u, but at the same time I am also hoping to see more blue and green so maybe we can avoid taking him out. Also open to any advices and thanks for the reply :)

I meant to update the subject line. When looking to see who in the forum needs help, we scan the subject lines first, rather than going in and reading all the posts. Nice to see a flat blue surf happening.

Just a FYI, the 2015 study done by the Royal Veterinary Clinic that found that 25% of diabetic cats has acromegaly, found the average dose size was 7 units. Link to article is here. We suggest that when people reach 6 units, they get the testing done as over that, there is typically something else causing insulin resistance.
