Responding to your post in the previous condo. You are right about support being essential when working long hours and dealing with an unregulated sugarcat. Their numbers can be quite unpredictable. But hopefully he is seeing better numbers now and will get flatter soon. On the feeder front, it is possible to close off certain rooms in the house so that he is restricted to one or two rooms? Or you could get him into the habit of eating at one place where the feeder will always be but that's more work!

When do you have to leave for work? He is starting lower today so hopefully the bounce might clear.

How are the fleas? Did the spot on work?

When I started with the food on the landing, he just didnt bother to get up at all to eat. The plan is to move the feeders to the landing once he understands that the specific noise of the feeder opening means food! I want to get him actually responding to the feeders first which is why I am placing them in the room he is in. I only have a couple of rooms upstairs anyway. But yes once I feel this is happening I will move it to the landing.

I am not going to work today, I have lots of things that need doing from home and out and about but I can totally fit in the out and about stuff with his needs. I dont need to go too far.

He's still itching but I think its less. I dont want to give him any more of that stuff so I feel its going to be a heavy month of cleaning and washing so when the new ones hatch wherever they might be I catch them.

Disappointing.

I wonder if its got something to do with flea chemicals and stress. He doesnt trust me since the apple cider vinegar and flea stuff application and combing attempts and all the other things ive been trying . He's scared on me which is so sad. We'll gt back to a good place I know

Marley is so quiet today its like the flea stuff has made him feel really bad. Is that normal?

Could the flea stuff be interfering BG?

Some of the ones that kill worms too can make them a little lethargic as the worms are dying.
But it also looks like he’s been bouncing the last few days and they can feel tired when their numbers go higher again.

Oh yes of course!

The flea stuff kills some worms but I have to give the other wormer too for the possible tapeworm.I decided not to test but just give it (as you said it doesnt always show up in test anyway). Talk about full turn. (Me before: I am not going to give chemicals to Marley to give me all the chemicals you got!!!(Well not quite but you know what I mean).

Two people at the vets said it was fine to give it 24 hours after the flea spot stuff ad a third said wait a week. Did you mention waiting a couple of weeks?

There seems to be so much conflicting info out there.

Can I ask what you found effectiv in terms of:

-I did the flea treatment 2 days ago - when do I need to start flea combing him? He's quite untrusting of me at the moment so I dont want to push it, but I would like to build uo the habit of doing it so that when the spot wears off, its a normal thing for us to do.

Ive been vacuuming every day for a few days (and indeed its driven me to have a complete sort of my whole house, which I am only half way through). I am hoping to reduce the vacuuming!!! What is the minimum i can vacuum?

What kind did you give? Most of the time they kill fleas within 24 hours. Some last a month but now there are some that last longer. Then you normally give it again for the next two months to completely stop the cycle- not sure if that’s what she meant.

I think you can probably get away with vacuuming every few days or once a week since you have already done a couple thorough vacuums. Just to be safe I would also clean all bedding every few days or once a week especially at the beginning just to get all the eggs. Any that hatch though will die when they try to bite him.

It was from the vets called Advocate. There was the option of a three month one, or one a month and they advise 3 months. The three month one sounded horrendous - cant think that can be good, must be so strong. I am going to try to get away with one and clean clean clean and comb comb comb.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and tips. I will keep on with my relentless washing schedule too!

Thanks again!

We were usually successful with just one month of application and thorough cleaning. But our cats were always indoors. I don’t blame your for not wanting the 3 month application. That seems like it would be too many chemicals. One month is good!
