11/8 Cleo AMPS 247 +5 152 +7 109 PMPS 53 +2.5 74

We are also somehow back in the yellows... sending good blue vibes your way! Come on, Cleo, come down...
Sending Blue Vibes to you too :bighug:

Hmmmmm flat yellows before the dive perhaps? I hope Cleo decides to skip the dive and slides down slowly and safely for you. :bighug:
I hope no dive. I'm super busy working from home today. The +5 of 152 is a decent descent into midblues. Hope you're feeling better and hoping that Herman settles down with his diving. Amazing how he responded to the 0.75 dose! Congrats on the reduction.:cat::bighug:

Lowest PS since this journey started...and I give a PFS :banghead:. She really hates the injection. She stops eating hisses and runs under the bed. What used to take me 5 mins to test feed and shoot now takes close to an hour. She hasn't reacted like this since we started back in February on Prozinc.
Thanks for letting me vent :bighug::bighug:

I’m sorry. :( That is frustrating! There was a question on the health forum about making shots go easier - I posted this, based on a lot of help and guidance I got when I was having problems…hope it will help you:

1. Make sure to give it in different locations, rotating sides. I was giving it more towards his shoulders on his sides because that was easiest and I was rotating sides, but I needed to use the mid-flank more because he started developing scar tissue and I could feel that his skin was tough when I was putting the needle in. Injecting into scar tissue can be really painful for them, and also they say the insulin isn’t as well absorbed when injected into scar tissue.

2. Make sure to warm the insulin in the syringe by putting your fingers around the barrel and rubbing. Cold Lantus stings.

3. I started to sing to him, also, and this calms him down and also calms me down so I’m not too nervous about giving it, which they can sense.

4. I also give while he is eating.

5. I use a headlamp so I can see what I’m doing. Biggie has short hair, but I couldn’t see anything. The headlamp helps tremendously so I don’t feel like I’m shooting blind. The headlamp also helps a lot for the ear tests.

6. I use 31 gauge 5/16” needle, and I think the short needle is less of a poke and more comfortable. The large gauge/skinny needle also helps.

So sorry Angela. It’s so frustrating. I don’t have any additional tips to Jackie’s, except maybe seeing if there’s a churu or baby food type treat that she reeeeally likes and that might help distract her during her shot? Maybe changing the routine a little bit could reduce her negative anticipation - like, instead of shooting while she is eating, shoot her right after as she is eating the super special treat? Of course that only works if she is reasonably food-motivated, and you don’t have to pull her out from under the bed…

And after all my advice, I think I may have shot a fur shot tonight! :arghh:
Oh no!
Im still blaming it on that darn MOON!

Thanks everyone. She's ALWAYS been spicy but we've been doing injections for 10 months without a hitch. I've always been able to give her the shot with her head deep in the food bowl with barely a blink from her. I have no idea what happened.
I'm going to treat myself to a designer pair of patience pants with a matching top :p .

Love love love her spreadsheet the past month
Really??? You have no idea how much this means to me ESPECIALLY since YOU are saying it. I count my blessings you were my guide for the first 4 months. I would not have learned anything if it wasn't for you. Especially patience! You brought clarity and succinct explanation to this emotional pet parent. ❤️.
PS did you give birth yet? You're due this month right?

You’ve received some great advice for injections. Herman often hisses or growls with shots, I found some improvements by drawing the dose 2-3 hours before injection to let it get up to room temperature (not very practical, I know) I’m sure warming up between your fingers helps too. I realized Herman really objected to me finding a “break” in the fur (his coat his long and thick) I started just shooting into the side of my tent “blindly” and he has been mostly better now that I am quicker.I also use a shorter needle now. Some days it’s still a real challenge though so I can relate to your issues,,,,,
Hang in there!

Thanks ❤️! Good news is I know I'll win in the end. She's getting the shot, she needs it! She's got the sharper nails but I'm still bigger and.... I'm the keeper of the food. I think I just might shake things up a bit and buy some new bowls. I just might have to condition her again. I'll pinch the tent during snacks and if She moves away I take away the food.

Yes, lot more greens and blues, not quite as much bouncing! Can be hard to see the forest from the trees when you're the one stuck in it.

Still pregnant  due in 2 days...
