Chewie is clearly not feeling great. Highest AMPS in two weeks, I'm not surprised since she had the world's most evil liquid BM at 6.30am. Either the scrambled eggs or the MC she got yesterday didn't agree with her (or both). And yet she just begged for a lil snack at +3!

Her appetite was good this morning, and I gave her 25mg gabapentin for pain.
She won't be happy to be back in the car this afternoon, but I hope we'll get answers or at least a path forward and tests ordered.

This vet is fantastic. Very sharp, very up to date on everything, no nonsense but super warm and caring. After hearing all about Chewie’s issue her suggestions for tests to run were exactly the same as we discussed here. We did X-rays which showed no visible heart issue or fluid buildup (yay!), ran a NT-proBNP for heart issues (results tomorrow) and she is sending the acromegaly test to MSU. Should it be positive she is on board with cabergoline. I’m speechless, it’s night and day with the dismissive attitude I got from the old vet in Portland!

Well wishes to chewie

I would call and double check. I've never heard of a "insulin panel" from MSU before.
You're right, the front desk lady must have gotten confused, I just looked at the invoice they emailed me and there's only the IGF-1 on there. I tried to call but they're closed already, and they said they were overnighting the sample, so I guess I missed my chance. Grrr.

Chewie's SS does not scream IAA to me, so hopefully not a big deal. Just something to consider if the IGF-1 comes back negative. It's not unusual for vets to leave that one off the list, but we do get a few cats that have just IAA.

Fingers crossed! I will definitely bring it up if both the tests ordered come back negative and we are left scratching our heads.
