10/27 Chewie AMPS 62 - 65/ +1 62/ +2 55/ +2.5 64/ +4 67/ +5.5 93/ +7 112/ PMPS 140/ +2.5 135

65 after 15 min - seems flat enough? I will feed now and check the forum once they are done eating. Holding onto my freshly minted balls of steel eeek
Again, not giving any advice at all because I am still so new to this, but I recently was introduced to the BCS (big chicken shot - a reduced dose) for when I was very nervous or really just needed a break. Just so you know all the tools available to you….

eta I see you shot! You got this! I’m on hermi watch today too with his lime so we are in it together!

sorry nobody was around Virginie, sometimes it is hard to find one of the super-gurus in the early AM.

I will be following this cycle closely, I see you got a 57 last night in the evening cycle, which I believe is an all time low number for Chewie! And an AMPS of 62 is definitely the lowest AMPS ever. Wow. Great job having the guts to shoot.

What a cycle yesterday nearly all green!! So great to see that insulin finally working. And maybe the pancreas finally healing just a tiny tiny bit! Let's goooooooooooo Chewie :)

Big Chicken Shot I love it! Definitely going to search the forum for this keyword, thanks!
I'm really nervous but I know she will eat the MC (forbidden food effect) even if she snubs the LC, so that's a relief at least.
Only the MC tends to give her diarrhea, always super fun with long-haired cats o_O very happy I trimmed her cataloons the other night.

Didn't see Herm got a lime! I'll go check your thread - hang in there :bighug:

I know, I'm already ever so impressed that they dedicate so much of their time to helping everyone... I am used to working with people in a lot of different timezones, so my work reflexes kick in as I try to think who may or may not be online at a given time. But hey that's what stickies are for! (maybe we need a Big Chicken sticky too haha)

Thanks so much Kyle, I really appreciate the support and kind words!

Yesterday and eventful night

From 67 at +10.5 she is now at 62 at AMPS - can’t decide if she is still going down, or flat considering meter variance?
I am going to stall without food for 15min, while 4 pairs of hungry eyes watch my every movement o_O

@Bandit's Mom @tiffmaxee if you ladies are online I would appreciate your guidance, if not I will keep following the sticky!
AY!i hope Chewie got through that dip ok!

Balls of steel indeed! If i remember correctly you are in the Pacific time zone? I am in the same, but sadly am not a good source of dosage advice. It sounds like you are on the right track FWIW
We used to be! We just moved to VA so we're in EST now.

55 at +2 and she wouldn't eat LC by itself, so fed 1/2 tsp LC mixed with 1 tsp MC (12%)
Rinse and repeat in an hour...

@Hendrick Cuddleclaw took your advice and just tested after 30 min - 64, woohoo.
Gave her 1tsp of LC and 0.5 tsp of MC so I can get some work done. I'm sooo behind on sleep and work, and someone's gotta pay the vet bills

@tiffmaxee Thank you! And great news. I figured from reading other people's posts that anything over 50 ideally had to be shot if possible to monitor.
This isn't a job for the faint of heart, phew.

So impressed with you virginie! Best wishes to chewie for the day ahead! And wishing you some coffee magic!

67 at +4 and I'm near losing my mind
She will not touch any form of LC I have (opened 3 cans so far), so I had to give her usual 1% topped with 12% MC to trick her. She ate about half.
Off to the pet store to try to get new stuff. Sigh.

Well the MC sure did its job, 93 at +5.5. She definitely feels better in higher greens, she is out of her hidey hole and luxuriously spread out on my pillow :cat:
I don't want to have to use MC in situations LC would work, so I just bought her Wellness LC in just about every flavor I could find. Hopefully that'll help with the pickiness.
Now I can get some work done without worrying about her dropping too low. What a day!

Well done this morning. :D Those Sticky Notes are good to have around. I actually printed the ones on shooting low and handling low numbers off, in case we had a power outage. And they actually came in handy one time!

I like how Chewie is gradually getting you used to shooting lower and lower numbers. How considerate of her. :cat:

That's a good idea. Now that we have the printer set up, I should do the same.
Yeah, Chewie is boiling me slowly like the proverbial frog. Can't imagine shooting a number in the 50s, eek!

So @Wendy&Neko the goal here would be to keep Chewie in the greens all the time, correct? And just keep feeding tsp amounts of LC (and MC when LC isn't enough) to keep her over 50, and after one week of this she would get a 1 unit reduction?

I know I'm jumping the gun, but I'm already dreaming of not injecting her with 16 units a day :p just trying to wrap my mind around what we need to do on the medium term here.

ARGHHH my tired brain messed up :arghh: I fed Chewie about 10 minutes ago and just injected her, without taking a PMPS!
I will take one now but no idea how accurate it’ll be… I could kick myself

140 - at least it’ll give me an idea of how fast she is going up or down at +3

First, it would be lovely to know why Chewie needs the amount of insulin she needs. It is rather unusual to need that high a dose without some other condition present. My suggestions for dosing are tweaked somewhat if there is a secondary endocrine condition present.

Keeping Chewie is greens at a dose is a nice goal, but not by forcing it with HC. If she wants a reduction and you have to pile on the carbs to keep her safe, then let her earn a reduction by just giving LC and MC. Otherwise you risk an overfull depot, which can be hard to keep ahead of with higher doses. Also, reductions over 5 units are by 0.5 units at a time, not 1.0. And that PMPS has told you it can be hard to maintain the solid greens if she's not ready for it.
