Yesterday

After the nonstop pokes Chewie had to put up with yesterday, it was a bit of a relief to see her in a bit higher numbers overnight and this morning and to be able to give her a break. She was VERY grumpy about her AMPS test and let me know in no uncertain terms

I'm starting to feel a bit more confident about greens and how she reacts to food, so hopefully she can surf today with much less testing from me (and less hissing from her) :cat:

Back up to 103 at +7.5 today
On the list of suspects: the new raw food, a possible ear infection (she started shaking her head and scratching her ears two days ago, I started giving tresaderm this morning), a bout of chin acne that we are in the middle of treating
I remember last week when I was overjoyed with blues and now all I'm coveting is greens :p

I just posted on Faraday’s condo, I’ll ask here too given your questions regarding a cause for the 103….
…some places I read that normal BG is up to 120 (I’ve seen 130- too) so I’m curious as I see certain kitties heading to remission (anti jinx)and hit those low flat numbers at barely a dose if it’s ok to see 120/low blues or if the goal is to have it under 100 always. Or I guess maybe it’s a matter of ecid. Just pondering out loud.

That's a good point Amy, right now I'm taking any blues as "oh no no no something must be wrong", but after thinking about it this afternoon, she could just be a cat being a cat (maybe a bug looked at her sideways, who knows).

I hear you, I am the same, after a stretch of greens finding a blue is disappointing and worrying, and I’m wondering if it should be! I have noticed that Herman is his best self between 70 and 115, days where he was consistently lower (or higher) he was a bit lethargic or extra hungry.

That's funny, it's been quite similar for Chewie. Anything under 85 and she just looks really lethargic and out of it. Over 150 and she is back to begging for food. Over the past few days, I have made a prediction to my boyfriend before each poke of whether I thought she would be in the greens or blues, just judging by her demeanor, and I have been right every time.

They probably need time to adjust, and for their pancreas to heal. And what we need is to put on a big ole pair of patience pants :p

I am the same way, so sad when she is in blue. We get used to those green numbers!
Bella licks my hand in a weird way when I test her, when she is lower than 70. Almost every time!

Tresaderm has a steroid component and it can affect (increase) BG in some diabetics. I’d note it on your spreadsheet, if you haven’t already. It’ll be good data to have, although you have a couple of other variables at play too, it sounds.
Oh wow I never would have suspected that it could affect BG! Thanks for the info @JL and Chip I added it to her spreadsheet.

Chewie decided to trash my theories about her reaching nadir at +4 by testing at 57 at +6
I was supposed to test at +5 but she was sleeping so soundly, on her back and spread eagle in her favorite spot, that I didn’t have the heart to wake her… glad I got a +6, yikes. That’s her lowest recorded number ever.

Just gave 2 tsp of LC with crumbled freeze-dried treat on top, retesting at +7.

Hmmm. So she is still at 67 at +10.5, and I didn’t feed because that’s within 2 hours of her morning shot. I’m really surprised that the MC didn’t give her more of a bump, I fully expected her to be in the lower 80s.
Really weird cycle! And now we’re all sitting in a noxious cloud because she just had the foulest semi-liquid BM in the bathroom box (courtesy I’m sure of the foods I had to use to convince her to eat when she was snubbing her usual LC).

@Bandit's Mom if she is still below 70 by AMPS, should I shoot and then watch her like a hawk with hypo kit on hand? Or stall without feeding? It would definitely be her lowest PS number ever. If you are around and have a minute to check her SS I would really appreciate it!
