Definitely need a yawning emoji! You did great - I spend many nights like you, someone more experienced will be able to help you determine how long you need to stay up and monitor him in these greens, I was always nervous Herman would be unpredictable so overdid the testing so I’m not a good one to give advice haha. Although I do suspect once you have more data with Chewie in these numbers you will learn when you can take a break from testing and when you need to lose sleep! Chewie has really come around!
Thanks Amy! :bighug:
I was nervous, since this was our first overnight greens, but it really helped to have all those hourly tests done during the day. I worried she might go lower at night, but she followed the same pattern she usually does during her daytime stretches of green. That gave me the confidence to decide she would be okay when I last tested at 3am, and get some sleep in. I know exactly what you mean, now that we are in these lower numbers I feel I need to save my staying awake points for situations that actually do demand it, it'll just take a while I guess to figure out which is which.

Looking good.
Thanks Elise. Am I doing the right thing, feeding a teaspoon of LC with a drop of MC to keep her stable?
I'm not 100% clear on when to feed the curve and when to let the cat drop under 50 and earn a reduction.
I've been feeding so far because it seems too early in her switch to green numbers to let her drop, do you agree?

@tiffmaxee I read this post you linked to previously for someone who had the same question I have. Quoting from Jill and Alex:
all too often we've seen failed reductions and then the need to take the dose right back up after a single drop under 50. personally, i'd rather see kitty "earn" a reduction from maintaining lower BGs with a flatter cycle for a week than to reduce the dose based on a single drop below 50 when the rest of the cycle's numbers remain high.

So I guess I'll keep on giving her tiny snacks to keep her flat in the greens :cat:

two 59s?? Off the top of my head I thought that was probably the lowest you ever recorded, and looking over Chewie's SS -- I was right! Go Chewie!!

once I got more comfortable with Hendrick surfing in the greens I did not feed HC unless he dropped below 50. I didn't want to artificially keep him from earning a reduction by boosting his number up when he technically was not in danger.

With kitties often going lower at night, you may have a very interesting evening cycle on your hands today.....Chewie will be in my thoughts!

The more she surfs between 50-80 the better. You don’t want to have to feed a lot of hc to make that happen. If under 9% does it that’s wonderful. If you need a little higher mc around nadir great too. Your are doing a really good job feeding the curve.

Whew. Thanks for confirming that we're on the right path. I have been feeding her 1% LC, the drop of MC on top is 12% (FF Grilled beef). I think she is fairly carb-sensitive: I put about double the amount of MC in her last snack (so about two big drops instead of one), and she went up to 74. Good data to have, I'll try to stick to LC and just give a bit more of it from now on.

It's a fine line isn't it? You don't want them to drop too low before they are ready, but you also don't want to keep propping them up artificially and delay a deserved reduction.
I have been using LC with tiny bit of MC so far, but I want to try using only LC from now on if I can, and keep her flat like Elise recommended.
Better take a nap this afternoon so I'm to the task tonight if we have a rodeo cycle :nailbiting:

72 at +7 and not very hungry. Fed 1tsp LC with crumbled freeze dried treat, and will see if she comes up without further food (unless she gets hangry, in which case she'll get her usual +9 snack).

Also have no idea from her spreadsheet when to expect a nadir overnight - seems to me that she tends to hit it pretty soon? But that could also be because during the day she typically gets lunch (full portion) at +5?

Yes in that +2 to start. She was pretty flat going into PMPS, or I would have suggested a +1 as well.

As for nadir, not a ton of data when it occurs with a green PS, but seems in the +3 or +4 range,

Thanks @Wendy&Neko - it did seem to me that especially in the past week, she seemed to hit her lowest numbers around +3-4. Seems so early in the cycle, but at least easier to monitor I guess! Wish I didn’t have 3 other opportunistic gluttons… any timed feeder would get mobbed before Chewie could even blink. The more sick a food is likely to make them, the more they want it :p

Its amazing to see Chewies journey! Overall things seem to be going really well. Love this!!!
Thanks :cat: I remember how scared I was to increase to 8 units with the vet scowling at me, it seemed like such a huge dose and the vet treated me like I was some kind of number-obsessed maniac hurting my cat… I can’t express how grateful I am for the support and the reassurance I got from everyone, and all the dosing advice from Wendy, Elise and Bhooma… I am so glad I listened to them. Cat people always know best! And in the end it’s the 8 unit dose that shook her numbers loose (that and the endless road trip I guess haha)

I agree this forum and the generous people here ( +1 ing praise for Wendy, Bhooma and Elise ) are nothing short of life savers. Cant wait to see how Chewie continues on!!
