If any of you have a chance can you please take a look at Kaz's spreadsheet as I just need a little guidance here.
So Kaz was doing so well on 10/3 we were at 3 units but he was reacting so well to the reductions that I had managed to get him all the way down to 2.25 and this is where he stalled. His numbers simply will not come out of the yellows and pinks (couple reds) which I am having an issue understanding.

I have followed the rules for his reductions so why all of a sudden has his numbers suddenly increased?
I felt I had no choice but to increase him again this morning back up to the 2.5 and he has already gone into the blue.

However if he reacts well to the 2.5 to gain the reduction again why are we stalling then at the 2.25 and is there something else I can do to help this along or is this where he needs to stay and further decreases are unlikely?

Also wanted to let the three of you know that I was unable to get help to my house this Christmas for my cats however I was put in touch with a lady by the name of Amber who is actually a vet tech assistant and lives a couple towns over. I am too far away for her to travel here but she has offered to take both cats into her house. She has a room that she locks the cats in but after chatting with her she is happy to give them full reign of the house if they get on with the other two cats she has. Not cheap but I think this is my best option so I booked it.

She knows how to put Libra buttons on so is happy to scan and I am sure if there is an issue she may do a blood check here and there although I don't think its something she is actually familiar with.
She has agreed to send me the cats readings every 2-3 days but not daily. I also asked her to join the Forum but I am not sure she will as she said I have a strew of vets that I can contact directly.

I am going to give her the feeding schedule and we did discuss about the food and she seems pretty comfortable feeding the 0% or low carb food so I need help from the three of you deciding if this is going to be ok. I would prefer him on the low carb food as much as possible but I need him to be safe.

Anyway thoughts are welcomed thanks

Hi Claire. Please get a second test each cycle. Kaz could have gone lower and then bounced. I’m glad that you have a plan for Christmas.

Unfortunately I can not get a test for cycles when I am at work if I am at home I test unless on the odd day I fall asleep.

This sound great, Claire. I'm really happy. I think you should be able to really relax and enjoy the time with your family this Christmas! I hope it's a special time. I would love to hear about your family traditions, etc. and your trip in general... when the time comes.... perhaps when you return. When exactly do you leave for the UK?

You are right, he is definitely doing better on the 2.5 units overall - compared to the 2.25. I'm sorry. I know how disappointed you must be about that. I don't know that any of us will have an idea of why exactly he's not going down and needing reductions at this point. I can give you the very common, and true, but non-comforting phrases like, "a cat needs however much insulin he needs" or "a cats insulin needs can, and do, change over time." Not great to hear, right? You can't be super aggressive since you are not home during the daytime to monitor and intervene with food, except on the weekends. You are keeping Kaz safe. I would love to see more blue, and green, but since he has seen blue and green on this dose, then you want to be cautious about increases. You've already held the dose for over 10 cycles, yes, but the weekend is coming up soon and I think you should be able to get some more tests in and see where the dose is taking him, before making any decisions on an increase. You really are doing such a great job with Kaz.
