I am trying to " feed the curve now with Jasper, so I am spreading his morning food out into 4 separate feedings at AMPS +1, +2 and +3 and doing a similar thing at night. My question is should I still feed him lunch as I usually do at +6 or is that no longer needed?

Since he is starting lower, you might have to feed more often if you have an active cycle. I would feed after every test till he starts rising. That could be at +3, +4 or later.

@Bandit's Mom Ok but starting at +1? Or should I be testing abd using that information to decide times?
Feed at +1 and +2 and test at +2 and go from there? If he is higher at +2, he is bouncing. If flat or lower at +2, get more tests. For the sake of simplicity and routine, you might want to feed at +1 and +2 in every cycle and decide future snack times based on +2 and later tests (if needed based on the +2).

@Bandit's Mom Ok this makes sense also I do need to keep it sorta simple at this point. I have a lot of doctors appointments and do need to sometimes be able to leave the house.
So the answer to my original question is not to feed lunch at +6 anymore unless needed am I right?

@tiffmaxee The duration of diabetes or the duration of the nadir? I am not sure I understand, is feeding after the nadir important too? Would you be willing to link that information on feeding the curve again?

Neither. By duration I mean how long the bg stays in better numbers before climbing. You can get the definition is the Basics sticky. Let me find it.

Feeding after the nadir is not necessary unless you are worried Jasper will drop too low to shoot the next dose. In that case you would feed at +10 a teaspoon or two of lc.

Learn how YOUR kitty is responding to insulin:
  • Onset - the length of time before insulin reaches the bloodstream & begins lowering blood glucose
  • Peak/Nadir - the lowest point in the cycle
  • Duration - the length of time insulin continues to lower blood glucose
