Day before yesterday

Didn’t post or get any tests besides pre shots yesterday, as it was a very long and very rough day. The cats were absolutely losing their minds on the 10h drive, so we decided to skip our rest day today and instead split what would be a 9+ hour drive into two easy days so the cats get more rest time at the hotel.

Chewie’s AMPS was 217 this morning, down from 385 at PMPS last night. Thank goodness no matter how stressed out she gets, she still eats with a good appetite. Today we won’t be setting out until about +3 so I’ll get a +2 and give her a big snack. Then it’s an easy 4h drive to the next hotel, and the kitties and humans will get the entire rest of the day off.

I feel awful putting them through this, but there’s just no way around it!

I am so impressed with you managing your menagerie across the country! That's a pretty good AMPS considering the craziness going on. I hope your four hours goes relatively quickly and you all enjoy some time out of the car!

Thank you so much - it’s honestly one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done! Would be much easier with young, healthy cats who could eat kibble for a few days, but I love my senior babies to pieces, never mind all their ailments :p

I didn’t get any afternoon tests. She got a good snack (half of a normal meal) at +9, and tonight at PMPS she’s at 123.
Plan is dinner now and second full meal at +2.5
I’m a little nervous about shooting her full dose of 8U, because I won’t be able to test overnight. We have a 6h drive tomorrow and need rest, I can’t set an alarm for 2am to check her nadir.

@Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom @tiffmaxee should I go down to 7.5, or is it safe to shoot 8?

I’m not very expert, but I’d imagine that since this is her lowest BG# recorded that she might be inclined to bounce, which FX means you won’t have to worry about MOTN BG readings.

Aside from that unhelpful mess, WOOHOO BLUE PS!!!!

Also just remembered that we are moving her dose 15 min back every dose to move her to EST hours - and she’s also not eating a full lunch on the road, only LC tuna snacks, sounds like that would definitely be contributing, right?

It will be okay. If you were not on the road I would not think twice about shooting. Since you can monitor there’s no need to worry.
Thanks Elise! Can’t get a break with these cats…after listening to The Song of My Screaming People on repeat for 3 hours today, now she throws a curveball at me! Cats….
