? 10/06 AMPS Blue 166 +2 151 +5 164 +8 189 PMPS 155 +4 160

I have a question. Blue is now on 5u Lantus. His numbers have been pretty consistent and each increase was aimed at getting him to level down into greens. But, again, with each increase, with the exception of October 3 (see SS), he remains in the 100s with a few random yellows. I'm trying to understand the relationship between the dose, the increase and the consistency (or persistency) of the blue zone numbers. Logic says if he's staying in low blues and you want to get to green you increase a little but the increases have resulted in the same pattern.

How do I understand this?

Insulin is a hormone, not a drug. It's not like you add a little bit and the numbers get a little bit better. Instead, you keep increasing in safe amounts, until you reach a fitting dose. Plus there is the factor of insulin resistance and how it can be fighting against the numbers too. Whether it be "just" glucose toxicity, or something else, you just keep increasing until you overcome that resistance.

However, having said that, I do see improvement as you've increased. PMPS's are now almost all blues, and more are sneaking into the AMPS too. Overall the nadirs are sneaking down too.

One more thing now: we're on cycle 9 of 5u. Even though the numbers are sneaking around, is another increase appropriate???
