Fluffy is neutered and 16 yrs old. He just started a strange behavior again that he hasn't done for a long time since before his FD diagnosis. I checked him for keytones--negative.

Does anyone know why a cat would "HUMP" my leg like a dog? or a balled up blanket? Is this a concern? He meows and starts going thru the motions of mating, moving his body on my leg or the blanket and is very verbal during this time. Weird! I've had multiple cats my entire life and never had one hump my leg but him. He stopped doing it for a spell but this week he started it up again and does it once a day usually at bedtime! Fluffy was doing this prior to FD every night at bed time for a spell. Then it stopped until this week. I just gave him a shot and he's on the blankets balled up cuz I haven't yet made the bed. I jumped outta bed when my alarm went off to take care of him.

Maybe he is starting to feel better and is going back to his old habits?

My neutered kitty Wicket started doing this after an extended trip during which the cats only saw a pet sitter twice a day. I got home and he was reaaaaal friendly, pushing his face into mine at bedtime and kneading vigorously. I thought it was very cute, until he started moving his butt too and trying to nip my arm! I won’t lie, the yuck factor was pretty strong at first, but I consistently redirected him to a fleece blanket, and now he has been getting “blankie time” at bedtime for the past 8 years. He kneads and humps and bites the blanket, and screeches and whines very loudly if the blanket isn’t just so or if I try to move. He can go at it for thirty minutes at a time
I think it’s just a self-soothing behavior, I wouldn’t worry about it unless he is also showing signs of something else being physically wrong.

Check out my 09-08 post comment #10 @Diane Tyler's Mom Googled it for me. It's possible he could have a UTI my boy was doing it to my other boy, but he was negative for a UTI. Diane explains it in that comment.

Shylo has always done this to his brother Hendrick, from time-to-time. And our ASH Chester will occasionally make "sin biscuits" humping a particular fleece blanket.

they are all neutered of course. I don't worry too much about the behavior except when Shy mounts Hen because Hendrick will start complaining loudly as if to say get the #$% off me, bro, and stop biting my damn scruff!

to answer your question though, no I have not heard of a cat mounting a person's leg like that. Just a pillow or another cat. That is a new one on me!

Sin biscuits! ROFL! That’s a new one on me! We do have some of this going on from time to time. One brother will do this to another one and does the scruff biting thing too. I always take it as a dominance thing Used to have a cat who dominated a stiffed Panda bear occasionally. Poor Panda.

credit where due, I picked that up over at the LLB but I cannot remember from whom

and yes Suzanne I do believe it is dominating behavior, Shylo is definitely the dominant one and was the alpha male of this household until Chester came along. The siamese don't mess with the ASH rescue, he's a bruiser. He struts around the house and if they see him coming they get out-da-way :p
