I’m so excited! The Cabergoline arrived early! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

It wasn’t supposed to be here until 9/15ish. And George’s #s have been high, so I am so thrilled it’s here. I gave him .5mL (100mcg/mL potency) just now. He didn’t like the way the medicine tasted, so I diluted with more food. He ate about 1/2 of it so far. So I’d say he’s had .25mL so far or about 25mg.

Fingers crossed / prayers / good vibes / anything you can throw our way! It’s all welcomed for:
  1. No diarrhea, and
  2. That it works!
I know I haven’t posted in several days (sorry! It’s been busy!) But I’ve kept the SS up.
I also got the Enalapril but I’m waiting at least until tonight (maybe longer?) to administer that one. I want to see how he does with Cabergoline first (one variable).

Let me know if I should be doing anything different with his Lantus. He’s still wearing a libre sensor.

Glad it came early!

I'm not sure how well it will work if it's "grazed" on, if he won't take it in food I'd be more inclined to just administer via oral syringe.

Nothing different to do with Lantus for now, glad you have the Libre as that will help keep an eye on his numbers.

Could you add a blank row above today and in it note that you started cabergoline? Just helps us to see at a quick glance.

I can't speak to the Enalapril as I've not used it or had experience with it, but I do know that in some rare cases ACE inhibitors can cause hypoglycemia. That combined with cabergoline could be an interesting combination, but I'd hate to leave BP untreated for too long.

Benazapril (similar to Enalapril) had no impact on Neko's numbers, but it was important for her kidneys to get the proteinuria controlled. I wouldn't wait too long on it.

What flavour of cabergoline did you get? The oddest one I heard was bacon marshmallow - but the cat actually liked it. Where did you get it compounded? Paws crossed for early success with it! As Melissa said, highlighting when you start cabergoline is important. Maybe even putting start date in the signature if you have room, or at least mentioning it as it can impact BG's strongly.

I'd keep on trucking with his Lantus dose. If you don't even get low blues tonight, you can go to 5 units tomorrow AM. Once you get to 5 units total dose, increases can be by 0.5 units at a time, unless you are just tweaking a pretty good dose with greens, then you can do 0.25 units changes. Cats vary how sensitive they are to small changes, so you'll just have to see if smaller changes are effective for George or not.
