? 08-29 Panzer/food change schedule help?/PMPS 201/108@+4/62@+5/51@+6.25/62@+7/67@+8

You can try changing the food times. What will you do if the BG drops quickly without food?
I have auto feeders, they just don't seem to work for Spook. Panzer is the one to worry about though. How would I go about making this change? I decided to test Panzer @+5 after feeding @+4 & sure enough he's dropping sooner then +6.

I think you can space it out, yes. Just watch total calories. But there's also a risk of scarf and barf if they eat too much at once.

My other concern was what Elise mentioned, drops in that early part of the cycle.

Are you currently giving a full dose of Mirataz? Wondering if you can slowly back that off...thinking that perhaps stopping it cold turkey, the natural drive they feel to eat is much lower than what the Mirataz gives them... so perhaps they aren't realizing the normal hunger signs mean to eat lol

I quit giving Panzer mirtaz on Saturday, I plan to put some on his ear tomorrow & try every other day & see how that goes & I also want to take both of them down to one ondansetron a day maybe on Saturday. I'm just not sure on how to go about changing them to every 6hrs. If I move his shot time, I can test @+2 every day & give them a couple of tsps of food before I leave for work. But I then can't test again until +6 sometimes +7 but won't be able to test until +9 on Wednesday's. I have auto feeders Spook doesn't do well with it but Panzer is the one I have to worry about dropping & he will eat out of an auto feeder no problem.

What are you trying to refer to with your link to Facebook? I can't read it so no clue what you are asking.
I'm wanting to change there food schedule to every 6hrs instead of every 4hrs so I can get them off of the Mirataz & ondansetron. Panzer hasn't had Mirataz since Saturday & he did great eating on Sunday but today he had to have fortiflora on every meal so far except the meal that I normally give @+4 AMPS, but didn't give until +5 AMPS & he ate it all with no fortiflora.

Right now they eat 6 cans of fancy feast between the 2 of them in a 24hr period. If I were to change to every 6hrs they would go down to 4 cans a day unless I give them a couple of tsps @+2 AMPS & PMPS. Do you think that would be sufficient? Panzer weighs 17lbs & Spook weighs 15lbs.

Do they need to gain, lose, or maintain weight? Cutting from 3 to 2 cans a day per cat is a big drop in calories. How many calories in 2 or 3 cans?

The 5 flavors they eat are 91 calories 89 calories 96 calories 91 calories & 90 calories. So at the most they would lose 96 calories per day per cat. I know we are all on different times, but I would be feeding at 6am noon 6pm & midnight.

I moved Panzer's shot back 30mins today. Once I get his shot at the time I want it, I will then start feeding every 5hrs for a week then go every 4hrs & at some point start weaning them off of the ondansetron. Panzer is only getting miritaz every other day. I have not changed anything with Spook yet because he is refusing to eat at least 2 meals a day & has to be fortiflora induced with almost all other meals. I am very worried about him, but I don't know what to do!

Panzer & Spook both ate all meals except for AMPS feeding Spook ate about half of it. No Mirataz for Panzer yesterday 9-1 & no PMPS ondansetron for either one. There new shot/ feeding schedule will start Sunday. Not doing every 5hrs(due to work on Monday) it will be every 6hrs with the exception of giving them a half of a can @+2 AMPS feeding before I go to work on Monday & possibly the other half of a can @+2 PMPS feeding. That will make it so they are getting 5 cans a day instead of 6. Hoping to have them off of the meds by sometime next week.
