Taz has pretty much been eating the same 4 flavors of wet food for the last 8.5 months. Actually longer, but he also ate a bit of dry food before diagnosis. He has been losing some weight (last blood work was at the beginning of July and didn't show anything off except pancreas inflammation). During his last episode of pancreatitis we started giving him Ondansetron. We gave it to him for maybe 3 weeks and while he acted like he felt better on it, the weight loss became more noticeable and he didn't want to finish all of his meals. His stools also became lighter and almost clay like.
After doing some research, I'm guessing he's having liver issues (which is common with ondansetron). We stopped giving him the pills a few days ago and he's still not as enthusiastic at meal times. We had his auto feeder set for preshot, +1, +2, +4.5, and +8, but today we took away his +2 and added more food to his +1. He doesn't always eat all of his +1 and then he misses it because the AF rotates for his +2. Now his +1 will be available until his +4.5. Hopefully it helps.
To be honest, I think he's bored of his normal food. For the past couple of days, I've added a bit of MC to his first couple of meals and he gobbles that down. We went to Petco yesterday and bought some different brands of low carb (tiki, weruva, Nature's Variety, soulistic) to see if he'll eat any of them. I'm trying to add some variety to encourage him to eat better. There were so many flavors in each brand that aren't on Dr. Lisa's food chart, so how do I know which ones are ok for him?
Taz usually nadirs early in his cycle and since we can't monitor him during the first 4 hours during the week anymore, I want to make sure he doesn't drop too much, so that's why I added the MC. But at what point do you just offer them whatever they'll eat...even if it's not ideal?
