Very confused at finding 401 at +3... what is this cat doing?

At first I wondered if I gave her a fur shot this morning but I don't think I did, I felt the needle go in and couldn't smell insulin on her fur after (I smell her after every each shot).

Could those number suggest an infection of some sort? She does have some chronic inflammation from her IVDD (she is due for her Adequan shot actually, I'll do that tonight), I haven't seen any signs of a possible UTI, but she could be asymptomatic. Should I get her in for a urinalysis just in case? Or are her numbers quite normal for a cat at beginning of treatment and I'm just worrying too much?

She has not hit a good dose yet. Give this dose 6 cycles and if still high we raise the dose. Then rinse, lather and repeat until we get there. It’s good you switched to TR. Take a break until pmps.

I know how hard it is to be patient, it took about six weeks of increases on TR before we saw anything that felt like progress with Hendrick. Every time I did a BG test I would hope for a lower number and when it was high I would feel so defeated and depressed. It is a tough mental and emotional journey but we are here to help you keep on keepin' on.

Hendrick says good job switching to TR! He's rooting for Chewie! I remember one of your first posts ever I shared my story with Hendrick and TR, I hope that helped influence you as well.

Thanks so much Kyle. Hendrick's story definitely is an inspiration, and I did look at his spreadsheet several times to convince myself it could be done! I was scared of TR at first, but hearing your story and others' really helped.

It's SO hard to be patient, mostly because I'm always worrying that I did something wrong or overlooked something... Having the input of people like you whose kitties recovered is invaluable, as well as having all the super experienced members reassure me that the high numbers are par for the course, not an indication that Chewie is worsening. I would be losing my mind without you guys! (and also losing it for many many months ahead, as my vet's plan was to keep her on 1 unit for two weeks, then do a glucose curve and adjust dose accordingly)

I know you guys hear it all the times, but you are absolute lifesavers :bighug:
