? 08/10 Eddie AMPS 297 +3 293 PMPS 382 +2.5 259

So, here we are at 16u. We dip down into mid-blue range and that, with the occasional +5 green, is about it.

Eddie is fine. He's got 4 of the 5Ps checked off (Eddie doesn't really purr anymore)but I'm wondering about the rest (reds, magentas). And, of course, this brings us round to the Cabergoline question. If you can believe it, it's been 13 working days since the vet drew for the IGF-1 test and there are still zero results. The vet seems not to understand that he has to call U Michigan...

Does anyone have thoughts on the BG/dose issue? I really don't want to increase, tbh. It's getting to Eddie when I inject him...

Hands full over here.

Yep, Lantus is notorious for stinging at larger doses. I think @FrostD mentioned the option of Levemir. Have you reconsidered switching?

And by the way, how are you doing? I know it’s a lot to handle physically, mentally, and emotionally, especially without a break or a backup person. :bighug:

I'll look into it. I feel like I'm having challenges with the IM vet. On the one hand, he'll answer questions by email, then, all of a sudden he'll switch gears and tell me to go to the primary vet. It just depends on which way the wind is blowing, it seems. For example, I noticed when Blue was in hospital last time (Aug 5), one test showed he may be hyperthyroid (TT4= 77 nmol/L H [Ref range 10-60). No one mentioned this to me but I noticed it in the lab report. See what I mean?

Oh, gosh, thanks for asking. I'm just grateful that I'm not teaching in fall term and have a little breathing room.

Yes. Lantus stung Mr Kitty starting around 10U, seems to be a little different for each cat. I had tried giving the total dose split between two locations on the scruff...it didn't seem to impact Mr Kitty's numbers at the time, though we still hadn't hit a breakthrough dose. I imagine this is very much ECID.

Levemir should not sting, I know we had discussed before. Was it your IM vet that was against it? I can't remember....

Yes, we did discuss before. I keep trying to get some response from the IM vet and am getting nowhere.

Sorry one more thing: what do you mean by a "breakthrough dose"???

The dose at which you finally start to see BG movement into better numbers. For cats with acro and/or IAA, it's the dose at which you're finally able to overwhelm the growth hormone and antibodies. You've already hit Eddie's, he's just a wonky boy!

So what I meant by that was Mr Kitty's BG was 200s/300s for forever no matter the dose. So when I split into two dose locations while waiting for Lev, I didn't see a difference, but it's unlikely that I would have since his dose wasn't high enough yet.

Since you've broken through with Eddie, you might see a difference in BG trends if you split between locations. Not sure.
