I’m happy that Faraday is hanging out within a meter variance of green :-). Now for *actual* greens bub!

I have a question about dieting. Faraday had pretty much unrestricted 24/7 food access over the course of our last couple trips. I’d say he’s been eating around 360-400 calories a day. As a result he’s around 14lbs. He looked really healthy when he was 12.4.

I’m now offering him about 200 calories a day with the idea that this is a bit lower than the calorie needs of a 12.5lb cat (235 by my calculations).

Is there anything I need to be aware of when dieting a diabetic cat? Obviously I’m keeping an eye on his BG#s, but I just want to be sure that I’m doing this right!

Well that was quite a dive!

I divided his breakfast into three and fed some at shot time, +1 and he's eating the last bit now at +2. Looks like it could be an exciting morning? Thanks for waiting for the weekend Faraday!

Thanks! Looks like I might need to bump up his calories to the 235 for the first 10 days to see if that gets us anywhere, and then go to 200. There are too many calculators for this stuff online!
 
Looks like we’re bouncing a bit from those 50s this morning! Happy to see some 50s, though rather surprised by such an early nadir!
