8/4 Herman pmps 400 dose up to 1.5 +3 306 pmps 360 flat all day, new vial insulin, pulling tail hair

Let's see some green today, Herman!
Amy, go easy on the carbs - remember, 50-100 is the normal range for blood sugar and we want him to spend more time in them. Feed at +1 and test at +2?
Yes. So you mean if I see green feed his usual 1-6% carbs and only jump to 15% gravy if getting closer to lime green?

I should mention he hasn’t had 6% in a couple days, mostly 2-3% trying to see if I can determine if he does better in 1-3 or 3-6 or 1-6 range for every day but I must admit when his numbers are high I reach for the 1-2% which I know may not be the best tract for him.

Still bouncing, looks like. Get a +4 or +5 to confirm. Take him up to 1.5u tonight.
Ok will do. Thanks. I’ll post a +4.
I didn’t test past +4 last night….it looked like it was heading up and I’m trying to be more selective in my testing times and frequency for both our sakes….but maybe last night was a mistake as looks like he dipped down late in cycle and I don’t know how low he got. Hmmm. He was extra snuggly from 1-3am sleeping on my chest…I almost woke to test as sometimes he gets needy in the low and high numbers….but I didn’t want to wake him…the dog…the husband…etc when it looked like he was heading up earlier in night.

Well...I took a +4.5 because he was acting needy which I am beginning to realize is something he does when there is a sharp change in numbers. Poor guy... when I look at his numbers it's like he is on a 24 hour cycle, but that cant be...this is just a constant up down due to bouncing I suppose.

...wondering if I should go grab a new vial of Lantus....could there be an issue with it? I have never left it out of fridge. Also wondering if there is something up with him in terms of a uti or something? He was on a course of Baytril for 20 days at the beginning of the month...but other than elevated numbers he is doing great. He is extremely stressed out by vet visits so would like to avoid any trips unless absolutely necessary if at all possible. He is slowly gaining weight. He is happy with good energy. Excellent appetite. Is this all just part of being unregulated and to be expected? I don't have the experience to know what to expect. Often when I look at other spreadsheets I am disappointed in and worried about our progress because I see rows and rows and rows of green!

How old is the vial?

Remember: ECID so you need to give Herman time to get his own greens. It looks like you recently switched to Lantus not that long ago and you just changed to TR. Give it time!

What was Baytril for? If you aren't seeing any other symptoms, I wouldn't worry. Just keep plugging away and you will get good numbers soon!

The vial is just over a month old. Vet prescribed a 20 day course of 25mg Baytil for what she suspected was a stubborn bacterial infection. I assumed a uti but now that I am thinking back to our convos...I didn't actually hear her say those words! Regardless....other than bounciness he is doing well. Great coat, appetite, etc. Aside from the occasional large clump of litter his urine output is mostly normal a HUGE difference from when we started Lantus the beginning of July. There was very little improvement to his weight and urine output and intake while he was on caninsulin and I was not testing. (I switched vets in order to move to Lantus).
I will carry on and be patient. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something glaring. THANKS

Good luck with the increase. I doubt it is the insulin. Sometimes a failed reduction can lead to higher numbers and a bit of a chase to get to a good dose again. Hang in there, it will happen. Fill up the sleep tank till then :-)

Hi all, completely high and flat today, :( started new vial of insulin just in case…but also in the last day or so started pulling hair from tail. Could that be a uti? No other symptoms. Will call vet Monday….

…but also in the last day or so started pulling hair from tail. .

My guy has pulled hair from the base of his tail on and off since we had renovations done a couple of years ago. We took him to the vet several times and he was not able to find any cause other than stress, he had no irritation or redness on his skin just a spot he plucked bald all around the base of his tail and at its worst up his tail as well. I find when there is noise in our building, changes to his environment or if he is not feeling 100% he starts again.

Hmm, all my testing might be stressing him out! Me too!
