Kaz AMPS 400s - Increase

Yes. Looking at his spreadsheet, he definitely needs an increase. He's been on this 2 unit dose for a long time. I would go up to 2.25. The weekend is coming up so it's a good time to increase as you will be able to monitor him a little more in the earlier part of the cycle. How does that sound?
 
Yes I can increase but I'd like to know if there are any other options open to Kaz in order to get him into remission.

Following TR is the best way to give him a shot at remission. That means not holding onto doses too long and trying to get him into better numbers. As long as he keeps eating his snacks from the autofeeder, he should be okay in lower numbers while you are away. I wish you had someone else to help during the day -- at least once during the work day. Let me tag someone else who can help with this question as well. @Bandit's Mom are you still on the Board right now? Can you please give your perspective on the remission question?
 
He gets all his food as I have the box and I'm not that concerned about the day as I think his numbers are usually ok but what I am not understanding is that he seems to keep rising toward each insulin shot. The rise is significant to me going from blue during the day to red or pink at insulin time is odd.

I know that in order to get to remission I need to regulate the insulin which I do three days a eek he gets tested through out the day but on four days he only gets the evening tests due to work. This should not be a issue.

I think if I am not mistaken that one of the issues might be the weight. While I was in the UK she was feeding him more than he should have gotten as he was more than 2 lbs over weight. I have to slowly reduce the weight which I am doing and right now hes exactly 2 lbs over weight. Over weight cats are less sensitive to insulin if I am correct right body weight respond better to diabetes therapy.

I've read - ...."slow, regulated weight reduction improves insulin sensitivity, may reduce the amount of insulin required, and increases the probability of long-term remission...."

Hoping as the weight comes off I might begin to see an improvement. Things were heading I thought in the right direction prior to my trip but I am always traveling every 6 months so it worries me that I might be in a nasty cycle here.
 
I hope to see how this dose settles for Kaz over the next few cycles. Then you may need to increase another .25 units, but lets see what happens. I wish I could see how low he's going at night... he may be dropping into blue at night and that's what's causing the Red preshots in the morning.
 
I don’t think he’s going too low at night but I do think he hit blue last night. It would be good to get a +4-5 when the +3 is around 200 as he seems to have an early nadir.

Kaz's numbers are not settling. The heat here is nothing like I've ever experienced its brutal. Even with two AC's running it's still unpleasant.

I do think this has something to do with it. The heat wasn't that bad when I first got back and it's the only real change.

It's supposed to break within the next couple days so should I hold or go up another .25? Were heading to the weekend where I can monitor more so best time for dose increase.

Thoughts?

I don't think he is dropping I think what's happening is I have cut his food slightly and instead of staying in the cold bedroom with me he's taken to lying in the kitchen (his box is in the living room) which is the hottest room waiting for the food box to click. He comes back in around 3.30am and I know last box opens at 3am.
He's desperate for food but I am desperate to get some of the weight off and yes I am doing it really slowly but he's noticing.
