So today is a strange day. George’s numbers look great! Actually, weird though as he is at +10 and his numbers are still dropping.

He seemed like he was feeling good this morning. He was meowing at the bedroom door (to get out to the living room) at 6am. He hasn’t done that in a while, so he must’ve been feeling more himself.

However, since then he has had diarrhea and vomited (albeit with some grass he snagged). So I don’t think he’s feeling great and prob not eating a lot. Maybe that’s why his BS is still declining at +10??? I’m not thinking I should give him his PMPS Lantus if his #s don’t rebound agree?

Thank you! I worry on the high numbers and now I get to worry about him getting low. Lol. At least for tonight. Heaven knows what tomorrow will bring!

He is eating. He’s gone to his bowl twice in the past hour. I just don’t know whether to give him any L. Kinda waiting and watching his trending.

Do you know what his number is now? 264 is generally a safe number to give insulin (even better that you have a Libre). He may also be rising now already. You could do 6 units if you’re not comfortable doing 6.5.

I know his body will be thankful to get into the lower #s. I read somewhere that damage is caused when BG is >250. That sticks in my mind.

The point at which a cat starts to spill sugar into their urine can vary by cat. For some it's the high 100's, some low 200's. It also depends what type of meter you are using to measure it (human vs. pet. vs. lab). Over that point, the kidneys have to work harder to remove the sugar from the blood and send it out into the urine. So yes, it is harder on their kidneys. You do want to get to the point where they get a break, which he did for a while today. You'll notice he drinks/pees less when the numbers come down too.
