? Chico 121@PMPS - vomiting question

Yet again we come for your advice. We will contact the vet on Monday but now it is Friday evening already and since it is not an emergency i don't want to abuse her benevolence.

Chico vomited 2-3 times the last 2 weeks, it is because i bought the cat grass. Usually i make it stop by giving him egg yolk, this time it didn't really do the trick. The vomit that i am worried about is a clear reddish liquid, usually mixed with grass and hairball, the liquid though looks like blood. It is not the first time i see it (maybe in the last couple of months 2-3 times). Every time i saw it in the past i excused it somehow: maybe i didn't see it well enough, maybe his stomach was irritated and so on. Today it was clearly red (sorry for the graphic pictures).

Did anybody see smth similar before? any ideas or opinions will be appreciated.

Thank you all in advance :bighug:

Perhaps his vomiting irritated his intestines? I’m not sure what to think otherwise. If he has a gi bleed there’s medication for it. I hope you don’t see any more. It does sound like yes vomiting hairballs too often though. It would only be an emergency if it continues and increases. I’d call the vet when they open. Do you have pet ERs if needed? I hope not needed :bighug:

What type of raw meat is he eating? When Neko had kangaroo, a very red meat, her vomits were particularly red.

So he has vomited 2-3 times in the last 2 weeks but it's not reddish every time? But he has had reddish colour vomit every now and then for 2-3 months?
Correct, we went to the vet when he fell out of remission but the tests that vet did were very suspicious. The new vet recommended to repeat the blood work, take a urine sample and a stool sample for testing at least a month after the original test but since we brought too much “distress” in Chico’s life by getting Nora we didn’t want to add a vet visit to the list. He seems to be doing better now so we will repeat the tests the week after, when we will return from vacation.

Thank you for the recommendation, it is very good read, a lot of useful information.

Yeah, i am not happy with the hairballs, i don’t want to take away the grass from him as he really seems to love it but i can’t make him stop from vomiting anymore so for now i will have to hide it away.

we live in the city so ER is not a problem, we mapped out the ones working around us when he was first diagnosed with FD. I don’t think (to be read as hope) might need ER, he is doing fine otherwise, i suspect it is smth chronic rather than acute connected with him licking his belly and recurrent diarrhea… we will have to repeat the bloodwork as soon as possible

What medications is he on?
Since last vet visit we stopped giving him probiotic and slippery elm because he was suspected (based on not really trustworthy blood tests) to have liver issues. Since then he is on Liquid Hepato Original flavor for Pets, which is a herbal medicine for liver regeneration and nothing else. We supplement him with fish oil as well
