Hi all - I am new to this as my cat, Katie, was just diagnosed with diabetes. I transitioned her to Weruva wet food and it was an utter disaster. She threw up and had terrible diarrhea. I am now feeding her some rice with ground chicken and a bit of DM. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Bakingal, welcome to the forum! I am new here too but I do know you're likely to get better feedback if you go ahead and start a new thread in this same forum.

You might start here:

If you have started insulin treatment already, changing diet can be sensitive. I'm sure an experienced member will be able to recommend to you how and when to test blood glucose so it never goes down too low.

Hello and welcome. I've started your own post for you. What food was Katie eating before her diabetes diagnosis? For some kitties, you need to make any food transition slowly.

Can you tell us a bit more about your kitty. Have you started insulin? If so, which one and what is the dose?

Hello and welcome! When we first transitioned our kitty who had exclusively ate dry food he had very mushy (and stinky!) poo. What helped was adding a teaspoon or two of pumpkin once a day. I used the Weruva brand pumpkin with ginger and turmeric. Took a couple weeks to get back to normal but worked for him.

Most members use

Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin in a can, or any other brand .It is just pumpkin, no seasonings or anything added. NOT PUMPKIN PIE FILLING

We just started her on ProZinc. I'm going to do a glucose graph tomorrow. She's getting 2 ml of insulin.
