Any recommendations for MC and HC low phosphorus food? Even a LC low phosphorus food? Max has stopped eating the Weruva Grandma’s chicken soup HC. The MC I give him is Purina proplan chicken and I add honey or karo to make it HC. It’s not low phosphorus though. He will also eat fancy feast and friskies which is not low phosphorus. He’s also stopped eating EZ complete, Weruva tipsy turvy (LC) and Weruva chicken frickazee.

His phosphorus was normal on his last visit but has an appt in a couple of weeks for repeat labs. I told his vet I didn’t want to start a low protein diet yet and was trying to do low phosphorus instead. (He had 2+ proteinuria, UPCR 0.5) I asked about a phosphorus binder and she said I could try that and gave me some aluminum hydroxide 320 mg/5/ml give 2 cc twice a day. My question is should I give him the phosphorus binder yet or wait? Should I just keep trying to find low phosphorus foods he will eat instead?

I used the Weruva Cats in the Kitchen pouches for a lower HC. Natures Variety Instinct Limited Ingredient Rabbit is MC and lower P than the non LID version. If you can find lower P foods he will eat, I would start there.

What bounce?

I would not start phos binders until his phos is above maybe 5

Thanks that’s helpful. I will look for some of those foods.
I know right? I just stay amazed at what’s going on these days. He didn’t have much of a food bump, so I’ve been doing MC and HC at night but he still has good numbers.:D
