Hi Christina, I am not a prozinc user and I am not sure if @FrostD would be around at this hour.
That preshot is a LOT lower than anything you have shot recently, so I would not give the full dose.
As I said I haven't used prozinc but I thought it wasn't given with a preshot so low.
If there is no history of ketones or DKA and you are not going to be there to monitor, you might want to consider skipping.

He's still on Lantus. I just shot the full 2.25. He's @98/96. I can monitor until +4 +5 at the latest.

No DKA history & no ketones.

We are supposed to be switching back to prozinc tomorrow, maybe not now. No I can't leave food out because of my other boy Spook. My ex roommate is coming to feed @+8 AMPS but he doesn't know how to test. Hopefully the food will bump him up plus he just ate half a jar of baby food with his probiotic in it.

I would give him a good feed before you leave. You can always increase the carbs if needed.

(I'm just here to plug that you stick with Lantus and don't go back to ProZinc lol nice cycle!)
We will see how tonight's cycle goes:D Lol I've been shooting him in a different spot because he is getting like a lump where I normally shoot him. I guess that's caused from Lantus? I sure hope so. I'm all to familiar with tumors that turned out to be cancerous & lost 2 kitty's due to cancer. That's why I insist on not vaccinating.

Panzer is acting off again. Picky with food, tounge out a little when I tested him, having to add fortiflora & parmesan cheese on food. Added chicken broth at the end didn't eat all of his food left probably 2tsps. I decided when I started feeding them if he turned his nose up I was pilling him Cerenia. He wouldn't touch it Spook ate & I went & got the Cerenia & pill pockets & gave it to him. He ate all of the liquid & food with almost a whole packet of fortiflora & parmesan cheese twice, with exception of 2tsps I mentioned above. What's going on Mr Panzer?:(

Just watched the camera back to confirm whom puked up furball @ +1-2ish AMPS it was Spook :( just as I thought. Doesn’t explain Panzer acting off:(

Tested Panzer @+6. He's been laying in his test box since +4 PMPS feeding. I had to physically lift him in the box up on the table to test him! He didn't fight me or make any kind of noise he’s @204@+6. Please see above comments @Suzanne & Darcy @FrostD

Did you ever call the vet the other day about his tongue?

Breathing ok?

I'm sorry I really have no ideas...it's such generic sort of symptoms, it could be anything.

Did you ever talk with your vet about the tongue being out? That’s a concern to me.
I don’t think the bump is from lantus. It can happen from just injecting anything. I think you need to see a vet.

No I never called him because adding an extra tablespoon of water made him stop doing it. He's had quite a but of fortiflora today 2 feedings maybe 3 could that be the reason for tounge? Breathing is normal.

The problem with that is that I have less than $200 left on care credit out of $3000. Between the 2 of them since February it's just gone! I don't know what to do.

Can these bouts of what seems like nausea be flare ups of pancreatitis? Can they come and go that quickly? At least you seem to have some tools (Cerenia, etc.) to make him feel better and eat since you really aren’t able to take him to the vet right now.

Definitely can be nausea, Suzanne. With the lucky appetite that would make sense. Chronic pancreatitis does come and go as do the symptoms.

I guess it could but remember his bloodwork said pancreatitis not suspected or likely something like that? I'm getting ready to test him again now.

Actually it said “acute pancreatitis” was unlikely BUT could not rule out chronic pancreatitis. I suspect chronic pancreatitis. If acute they are really sick and often need to be hospitalized. Panzer presents with possible chronic pancreatitis that’s usually not as severe and treated at home.

At Costco 30 of the 4mg pills are just $4.99. I hadn’t looked in a very long time.

I did not know that, I was wondering what it meant. I didn't realize there 2 different kinds. Well I guess if he has to have fortiflora on the +8 PMPS feeding in less than an hour, I will start him back on mirtaz tomorrow morning & continue with the Cerenia. I finally get Spook eating somewhat better & now Panzer doesn't want to eat. I feel like it's a vicious cycle of who's going to be sick this week :(

Will your vet give you ondansetron? It might work better for nausea. If you can get an RX there are lots of online pharmacies and even Costco has the generic and it’s not real expensive. I know I have asked before but don’t recall the answer.

I read those & I see reason 4 reason 6 & possibly the neurological one. I've always wondered about him neurologically because of slight head jerks. I know that can be a sign of pain as well though but he seems to have them, when we lay down & go to sleep. Depending on which way I'm laying he sometimes has his head on my hand & I can feel the jerks & once he relaxs & falls asleep it stops.

He only has 2 teeth & today I watched on camera as my ex roommate fed them @+8 AMPS & Panzer took forever to eat, he Cam had to get down on the floor with him & help him.

I was glad to see some benign reasons. One of my cats sometimes chews lime a cow chewing it’s cud and seems happy and purring when she does it. The first time she did it boy was I worried. It seems to nit mean anything.

I asked him before & he said no,but I can call tomorrow morning & give it a try.

Why on earth he would say no is beyond my comprehension. The specialists that have written articles on pancreatitis all recommend it. You can find it on the pancreatitis primer in many if not all the articles. Ask him to humor you. I first learned of it when treating my lymphoma kitty. Then used it for Max for pancreatitis. It works in a different way than cerenia. For some it’s more effective. Some people I know give both at times. I’d love to hear the reason your vet won’t let you try it.

I’m sorry they are both feeling a little off right now. Hopefully soon they both will feel better. :bighug:
I wish I had the $ to get the answers I need but for now all I can do is use the meds I have & just keep using those. I need to find me a rich man:banghead: not easy to do in my line of work & having to feed these 2 every 4hrs & getting broken sleep.

I will definitely mention that to him, he probably doesn't know, most of them don't know much about FD. You would think he would know more him being diabetic himself. I don't know if people suffer from pancreatitis as well?

Oh yes people suffer from pancreatitis and so do dogs. They get very sick and it’s very painful. Fir dogs and people they need a low fat diet but not cats. I’m not sure but it doesn’t seem to be associated with diabetes in humans or dogs either. They only in the last several years realized how common pancreatitis is in cats. They hide pain and illness too well.

Very possible, I will start mirtaz on Panzer again in the morning & continue with the Cerenia. I'm going to call & ask him why he won't give me ondansetron & ask him why if he still won't.

Interesting...I know dogs get it but figured it was diabetic related although I recall my nephews dog having pancreatitis but he was not & still isn't diabetic. Do they give people with pancreatitis ondansetron?

I just Googled Costco & there are 3 within 20miles of me. Don't you have to be a member though?

Once again he's dropping, giving me a hard time testing that's a good thing. I'm feeding now. He wouldn't touch the food I offered him even with fortiflora on it. Offered beef flavor no water ate a little walked away put fortiflora on it ate more walked away, put more on & he finished it. Spook ate the first food I gave to both of them but only with fortiflora on it:banghead:

Both refused to eat @ AMPS feeding ended up getting them to eat a can of chicken & tuna feast flaked FF, also ate all of there baby food with probiotic. Will be putting mirtaz on them @+2 AMPS. He dropped lower again over night!
